The Watchdog says ?: VENUS LIGHT (8) takes on some ridiculously talented speedsters including Group 3 winner and Sandown Park 595m track record holder COLLINDA PATTY (5), but she has her favourite draw, and she should have enough pace to cross through the first bend. She will have a flat patch mid-race, but she does hit the line well and with her staying wide the trip, she can run home into the top three.
‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:
COLLINDA PATTY (5) has turned in some big performances since resuming and she returned to her brilliant best with a breathtaking 33.80sec Sandown Park win on a slow track last time out. The box draw hasn’t done her any favours again but with some luck early, she will take a power of beating. Her litter sister COLLINDA LADY (3) is the wild card. She has only had the seven starts, but she has turned in some huge performances and she has star stayer written all over her. Tonight is the first step in her staying campaign, however she gives every indication that she will cover the distance easily. ASTON AMIGO (2) rounds out the ‘big three’. He owns a scorching 34.29sec PB here and he should be able to clear SHOWTIME BOOMER (1) early. He has proven to be extremely hard to get past when leading, so if he can find the top, the ‘Collindas’ will have to be at their brilliant best to reel him in.
