Something to be proud of
Victorian greyhound racing is not only a wonderful pastime, it is also an enormous contributor to society on numerous levels.
In its role as regulator, GRV continues to invest heavily in the welfare of its number one stakeholder, the greyhound. This includes significant on-going investment in racetrack safety as well as the re-homing of greyhounds once they are no longer considered suitable for racing.
GRV’s 2022/23 Annual Report reveals that greyhound racing generates $643 million to the Victorian economy each year while providing the equivalent of 4700 full-time jobs.
Community focus
Greyhound racing supports a countless number of community clubs and charities, whether at local club level or on a more broader scale.
GRV’s biggest annual community event is the Great Chase, an annual state-wide racing series which provides social inclusion for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. The Great Chase has contributed more than $750,000 in much-needed funds to Victoria’s disability sector over the past 20 years.
Greyhound racing also been a long-time contributor to the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal, while it has also partnered with radio stations 1116 SEN and Ace Radio to produce the Chase for Charity initiative, which supports a handful of charities throughout the AFL season each year including Ronald McDonald House.-
