Daily Mail: ‘Panama’ set to extend picket fence

Panama Canal has scorched the track at Healesville in his three runs since resuming from over four months off and he is aiming to win for the sixth-straight time overall in a Grade 5 390m race at Ballarat this evening.

G1 Melbourne Cup placegetter Kinson Bale stands out in a Mixed 4/5 450m event, while Shaka Big Tonks is aiming to record his fourth win from his last five starts in a Grade 5 450m race.

Group finalists Well Grounded and Chop Scotch, plus the promising Blazing Times, should produce a competitive battle in a Mixed 3/4 460m event at Geelong in the other night meeting.

Amron Lass – a litter sister to potential superstar Amron Boy – headlines a Grade 6 525m race at The Meadows this afternoon, while G3 winner Graclyn Bale and G1 finalist Xavien Bale clash.

? $5 Multi

First
?: Place – MIGHTY PIE
? The Meadows ? Race 8 ? Box 1 ? 525m ⏱ 1:41pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.95 Place (Top two finish required)

Second
?: Win – VIKING COMMANDER
? Ballarat ? Race 4 ? Box 8 ? 450m ⏱ 7:51pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.80 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/770990904/race/4

The Watchdog says
? : MIGHTY PIE (1) is drawn to lead, and he is getting stronger all the time, so a top-two finish looks likely. VIKING COMMANDER (8) is ideally drawn out wide and he should make light work of this line-up.

Multi price:
$5.46

? $3 Win – HUNTER GRANGE
? Ballarat ? Race 2 ? Box 4 ? 390m ⏱ 7:07pm
TAB fixed odds: $3.80 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/770990904/race/2

The Watchdog says
? : He has been luckless since his top debut win here in February and he is expected to make amends tonight. He is armed with a great turn of foot soon after box rise, and the smaller line-up should allow him to gain a clear passage throughout and then prove too strong in the run home.

? $2 Trifecta – 2 / 1 / 4,7 (100%)

? Must Watch Race ?

Grade 5

? Ballarat ? Race 7
? 390m ⏱ 8:50pm

The Watchdog says ?: PANAMA CANAL (2) has been enormous since resuming and should be winning, while GLADKI (1) looks poised to fill the quinella spot. TIGGERLONG GAS (4) and QUICK SHADOW (7) will battle it out for third spot.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

PANAMA CANAL (2) had always shown potential, however since resuming from a spell he has gone to another level with three scorching Healesville wins and one of these being a near record 16.29sec. He returns to circle racing and if he can handle the bend, a sub 21.80sec run could be on the cards. GLADKI (1) has been racing with confidence and he beat a good line-up at Geelong last time in a slick 25.87sec. If he can reproduce something similar tonight, he should test the favourite throughout. TIGGERLONG GAS (4) and QUICK SHADOW (7) are both promising types and will battle it out for the minor end of the money.
