Daily Mail: ‘Amron’ aiming to stay unbeaten

Premier Racing at The Meadows tonight features Amron Boy aiming to stay unbeaten after five starts in his first race away from Sandown Park in a Mixed 4/5 525m event.

Group-class performers Keep It Black, Barooga Smoke (won two Group 3s) and Compliance, plus Horsham 485m track record holder Soda Titan, battle in a Mixed 3/4 525m race.

G1 finalist Fernando’s Quest and G2 winner Hill Top Jack clash in a Mixed 4/5 600m race, in-form chasers Bell Burner and Golden Quest duel in a Mixed 4/5 725m event, and Curator – won three straight and four of his last five – headlines a 600m Grade 5 final.

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?

? $2 Multi

First
?: Win – ENAMOURED
? Ballarat ? Race 2 ? Box 5 ? 390m ⏱ 6:26pm
TAB fixed odds: $2 Win

Second
?: Win – MAXIMUM BROOKE
? Ballarat ? Race 4 ? Box 1 ? 390m ⏱ 7:08pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.50 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/765366179/race/4

The Watchdog says
? : ENAMOURED (5) caught the eye when resuming and she is armed with a terrific turn of foot, so if given room early, she should prove too good for this line-up. MAXIMUM BROOKE (1) has been luckless of late and from the good draw she is expected to make amends.

Multi price:

? $1 Trifecta – 1 / 2 / 5,6,7 (33.33%)

? Must Watch Race ?

Mixed Grade 4/5

? The Meadows ? Race 4
? 525m ⏱ 7:33pm

The Watchdog says ?: The unbeaten AMRON BOY (1) should get a nice sit on JUST LIKE MICK (2) for most of the journey and then prove too strong late. Group 3 Murray Bridge Cup winner WEBLEC RANGER (5), Group 3 finalist SHIMA JAKE (6) and Group 2 placegetter IMPULSE BUY (7) look the likely types to battle it out for third spot.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

AMRON BOY (1) is a generational talent, and he has taken all before him in his four explosive starts to date. He is four-from-four at Sandown Park and two of those wins have been in a breathtaking 29.07sec and 29.10sec. If he can reproduce a similar performance at The Meadows, a sub 29.70sec run could be on the cards. There is a slight concern with the abundance of pace drawn directly on his outside, but he has carved out a handy 5.09sec at Sandown Park previously and a repeat of that run can see him settle in the top two or three early on. JUST LIKE MICK (2) continues to get better all the time and he will keep the pressure on throughout, while WEBLEC RANGER (5) is racing with confidence and he just needs to step on terms.

The Watchdog’s selections: 1 – 2 – 5 – 6

? $5 Place – AFFAIR BIT
? The Meadows ? Race 11 ? Box 2 ? 525m ⏱ 10:03pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.50 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666540615/race/11

The Watchdog says
? : AFFAIR BIT (2) rarely wins, but he is never too far away in this company. With SCATTERBOX (1) expected to fire through and hold a prominent spot early and SIR CHAPPY (3) likely to push wide through the bend, he should get a nice run through as they head to the back, and he will hit the line quite well.

? $2 Win – ORSON AVERY
? The Meadows ? Race 12 ? Box 1 ? 525m ⏱ 10:25pm
TAB fixed odds: $5.50 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666540615/race/12

The Watchdog says
? : She has been desperately unlucky of late and from the good draw she represents value. There is a bit of early speed in the middle, but she should be able to hold a prominent spot through the bend and she will be very strong in the run home.
