Daily Mail: Will ‘Amber’ be stopped at Shepparton?

G2 Ballarat Cup finalist and Horsham 410m track record holder Oriental Amber is looking to claim her third straight win at Shepparton this evening.

G3 finalist Orlando and Kepal are favoured to boost their respective strike rates, while You Fugitive v Mayhem Lass is a strong duel.

Quick Lomar, Charlott’s Blaze and Runaway Miss headline a 385m Maiden final, while Jefferson County and Ms. Mighty Mouse clash.

Maiden Final

TAB fixed odds: $3.10 Win

The Watchdog says ?: Very strong final but CHARLOTT’S BLAZE (3) showed blistering early pace in her heat and I’m expecting her to hit the line a lot better tonight. Her two main rivals were quick heat winners, but they are likely to be giving her a decent head start and they won’t be able to bridge the gap.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

Really strong Maiden final and QUICK LOMAR (2) showed that he is a dog to follow with a powerful 21.57sec heat win last Monday night. He is going to be hard to beat again, however he will need some luck early and I think he will get better as he rises in distance. RUNAWAY MISS (5) was another impressive heat winner when carving out a lightning fast 21.50sec after spearing the lids. If she can step away as was the case last Monday night, she can figure prominently this evening. CHARLOTT’S BLAZE (3) was beaten in her heat, but I think she can turn the tables on ‘Lomar’. She went through the first marker in a scorching 8.07sec and she will hit the line a lot better tonight. With a similar first section, she can pounce on the lead and go one better.

The Watchdog says
? : Serious prospect and she has proven to be a reliable beginner in her brief career to date. There isn’t a lot of depth in this event, so if she can pounce on the lead and repeat her brilliant 25.11sec win here from November, they will have a hard time reeling her in.

Second
?: Win – AXEDALE PIRATE
? Shepparton ? Race 9 ? Box 5 ? 450m ⏱ 10:08pm
TAB fixed odds: $3.20 Win

The Watchdog says
? : ORLANDO (1) has won three of four since resuming and he is drawn to lead throughout. With two wide runners drawn on his outside, he should get plenty of room early and there will be no excuses. AXEDALE PIRATE (5) has continued to impress, and he should have enough pace to cross and lead at the bend and he will be carving out time.
