Daily Mail: ‘Black Sail’ returns at Traralgon

Traralgon 500m track record holder Black Sail – racing for the first time since March 31 – lines up against The Horizon finalist Whistling Bullet and the consistent Aubameyang in a Mixed 4/5 450m at Traralgon tonight.

Indiana Phones v Rumour Is Fact v Narcissus v Shaka Big Tonks v One’s Opinion should be a competitive Grade 5 395m event, while Ladies Get Grace, Brother Bearing and Throw Caution are all expected to prevail in their respective races.

2021 G3 Launching Pad finalist Hadouken is the standout chaser in a Mixed 4/5 425m race at Bendigo in the early part of the evening.

The Pink Diamond series with total prizemoney of $1.175 million commenced yesterday and it continues this afternoon/evening with another round of heats at Bendigo and Geelong.

The Watchdog says
? : HADOUKEN (5) has panels on his rivals, and he should be leading throughout. KANJI EXILED (3) has turned in some stellar performances in town and looks suited to this track/distance. THANK YOU JILL (3) has good early burn and if she can repeat the performance which saw her score here in 25.87sec, she will prove hard to reel in again.

Multi price: $3.45

? $2 Win – BLACK SAIL

? Must Watch Race ?

Mixed Grade 4/5

? Traralgon ? Race 6
? Box 3 ? 450m ⏱ 8:34pm

TAB fixed odds: $3.60 Win

The Watchdog says ?: BLACK SAIL (3) – the Traralgon 500m track record holder and winner of four races from eight starts – showed enormous potential when last in work and he will be primed for a bold showing fresh. If he can find the rail early, he will get a nice run through mid-race and he will prove very hard to hold out.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

The resuming BLACK SAIL (3) turned in some brilliant performances here and at Sandown Park in his first preparation and he appears to be the real deal. This isn’t an easy race, but if he steps well, he should find the rail soon after box rise, and he will be very strong in the run home. WHISTLING BULLET (1) is as consistent as they come, and she is drawn to lead for a long way. She has quick wins here over 395m and 500m and this trip should be her ideal distance range, so if BLACK SAIL finds bother, she may be off and gone with the prize. SHIMA PUNGA (8) can be hit or miss early, and he is lacking confidence, however he has a serious motor when at his best and he should get plenty of room to balance up and put himself into contention.

The Watchdog’s selections: 3 – 1 – 8 – 7

? $4 Place – RIPPLEBROOK GLEN
? Traralgon ? Race 10 ? Box 1 ? 500m ⏱ 9:59pm
TAB fixed odds: $3.10 Place (Top two finish required)
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538658/race/10

The Watchdog says
? : RIPPLEBROOK GLEN (1) is as honest as they come, and he will scrape the paint throughout. BROTHER BEARING (7) is going to be hard to beat, however if RIPPLEBROOK GLEN can hold a top three spot early, he will be strong in the run home and a top-two finish looks likely.
