Mark your calendar – It’s time to come to the Pink Diamond!

The Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club would love to entertain you at the 2022 Pink Diamond on Friday 17 June.

The Pink Diamond is Australia’s richest regional greyhound spectacular with 12 feature races on the program.

Come along to our Magical Winter Wonderland where you will be enthralled by the brilliance of champions, dance the night away with Sam + Sam,  dine at the gourmet food trucks, while the children are entertained by VR Extreme winter sports

Gates open at 6pm on Friday 17 June at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club.

GRV’s $1.175M Pink Diamond series for Vic Bred greyhounds is Australia’s richest regional greyhound series. Entering its second season in 2022, the Pink Diamond caters for race dogs of various abilities over a range of distances, culminating in 12 feature finals held on one spectacular night at Ballarat on Friday June 17. Victorian breeders are huge beneficiaries of the Pink Diamond series, with breeder bonuses attached to the top four placegetters in all 12 features on finals night.

Who can compete (Vic Bred definition):

exclusively to greyhounds born in the
state of Victoria.

General Conditions of Entry

  1. Victorian Bred greyhounds only.
  2. A greyhound must not be under any order of prohibition under the rules of Greyhound Racing Victoria at the time of nomination that will prohibit that greyhound from competing at the 2022 Pink Diamond Finals Night at Ballarat on 17 June 2022.
  3. Greyhounds under any prohibition at 8am on Monday 13th June that will restrict the greyhound from competing on the Finals night at Ballarat will not be drawn into the fields.
  4. Each greyhound is only eligible to compete in one series of heats.
  5. Greyhounds drawn as reserves for heats on Thursday 9th June will be able to be nominated and drawn into heats on Friday 10th June.
  6. The winners and the second placegetters from each of the 4 heats/semi-finals conducted on Thursday 9th June and Friday 10th June will progress to the Finals night.
  7. Upon entering a greyhound for any events in this series, trainers agree to themselves and their greyhound/s available for any reasonable promotional opportunities relating to this event upon request from Greyhound Racing Victoria.
  8. Greyhound Racing Victoria reserves the right to alter and amend conditions and prize money for the 2022 Pink Diamond Series. Any changes to these terms and conditions will be published on www.grv.org.au.
  9. Nomination closing times are as per normal for each of the Victorian clubs, or as advised by GRV and may be subject to change.
  10. One reserve will progress from each of the following venues for each specific final.
  • Warragul and Bendigo; Champion 390m, Maiden 390m, Rookie 450m, Challenger 450m, Princess 450m, Champion 660m.
  • Shepparton and Geelong; Rookie 390m, Veterans 390m, Challenger 390m, Champion 450m, Maiden 450m, Rookie 660m.
  • Reserves will be randomly allocated in the case of a scratching.
  1. Preference nominations will be accepted so that a greyhound can be nominated with preferences for multiple events.

Event Specific Conditions of Entry

The following conditions will apply to each of the advertised events

Champion Events (390m, 450m & 660m)

Special Event selection criteria applies.

  1. Greyhounds that are a Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 at that track and distance with greyhounds ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
  2. Remainder of nominations ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
  3. Maidens are ineligible

Rookie Events (390m & 450m)

Special Event selection criteria applies.

  1. Greyhounds must have been whelped after 1/1/2020.
  2. Greyhounds that are a Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 at that track and distance with greyhounds ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
  3. Remainder of nominations ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.

Challenger Events (390m & 450m)

  1. At the time of grading greyhounds must meet the advertised rank limit condition for each event.
  2. Greyhound must have had a minimum of 10 starts.
  3. Greyhounds will be selected using a top-down method based on rank only (Order of Entries not applicable).

Maiden Events (390m & 450m)

Maiden Events order of entry will be applied for the heats.

  1. Last start placegetter at that track and distance.
  2. Last start placegetter at any track and distance.
  3. Recent last start reserve greyhound that did not obtain a start (meeting must have been finalised), at the same meeting level, track and distance.
  4. Greyhounds with one (1) start only.
  5. Greyhounds with two (2) starts only.
  6. Debutant with three (3) or more unsuccessful nominations.
  7. Debutant with two (2) unsuccessful nominations.
  8. Debutant with one (1) unsuccessful nomination.
  9. Debutant at first nomination.
  10. Greyhound competed in Tier 3 Event at last start and broke the Tier 3 time standard.
  11. Remainder of nominations ordered by individual rank in ascending order.

Veterans Event (390m)

Special Event selection criteria applies.

  1. Greyhounds must be four years or older at the date of the race meeting.
  2. Greyhounds that are a Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 at that track and distance with greyhounds ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
  3. Remainder of nominations ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
  4. Maidens are ineligible

Princess Event (450m)

Special Event selection criteria applies.

  1. Female Greyhounds only
  2. No city wins
  3. Greyhounds that are a Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 at that track and distance with greyhounds ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
  4. Remainder of nominations ordered by individual Ranking in ascending order.
  5. Maidens are ineligible

Restricted Win Event (660m)

  1. Greyhounds will be selected using a top-down method based on rank only. (Order of entry not applicable).
  2. Greyhounds must have four or less wins at the time of grading.
