Daily Mail: ‘Fernando’ on quest for victory

Premier Racing at The Meadows tonight features G1 Fanta Bale Super Stayers finalist Fernando’s Quest in a Grade 4 600m race.

The in-form Tobin Frost, the promising Aston Jonas and G3 placegetter Overflow Lisa are the biggest threats to Fernando’s Quest.

G1 placegetter Carry On Angel and G2 winner Jax Bale face Group finalists Perfect Colour, Shima Jake and Keep It Black, plus the well-performed Little Tiger and Daph’s Zac, in a competitive Mixed 3/4 525m event.

The consistent Gypsy Yankee stands out in a Mixed 4/5 525m race, while G3 finalist Aston Lavinia v G3 finalist Whatever I Say v Aratuza Bale and In A Blue v G1 finalist Tiberia Bale v Courteous Reiko should be top clashes.

Absolutely thrilling affair with some exciting types set for a fantastic battle. REVOLUTION (1) – victorious seven times from 11 starts – showed enormous potential in his first preparation, and he has returned to racing in fine style with two brilliant performances up the Healesville straight. He has come up with the inside draw and a clean getaway should see him go close. DEEP WITTS (2) – triumphant five times from 12 starts – resumes from a spell and if he is fully fit, he will make REVOLUTION work overtime. He scored some scorching wins here over 460m when last in work and he appears to be the real deal. If either one of these runners gain a clear passage, a sub 22.20sec run could be on the cards.

The Watchdog says ? : IN A BLUE (1) has been racing well in strong company on the provincial circuit of late and he appears drawn to get the breaks tonight. If he can step on terms, he should have the pace to hold the lead and he can then zip away in the middle stages. GYPSY VISTA (2) hasn’t done a lot since resuming, but she is extremely talented when at her best, so she needs to be respected third up from a spell and we will have a little saver bet on her.
