Daily Mail: ‘Queen’ set to reign at Geelong

Last start G1 Sapphire Crown finalist Auspicious Queen is the headline act in a Mixed 3/4 460m race at Geelong this afternoon with Voltage Spike considered the main threat.

The promising Basalt is expected to boost his strike rate to four wins from six starts in a Mixed 4/5 400m event as well.

Prolific winner Zachary stands out in a Grade 5 450m final at Shepparton tonight, but G3 Speed Star 525m finalist Chop Scotch and the consistent He’s No Slouch will be strong challengers.

Potential star Aston Suzette is highly fancied to secure her seventh victory at start 13 in a Mixed 4/5 450m race, while Smokin’ Charlie v Skull, G3 finalist Our Fabio v Bern’s Ability and G3 finalist Smart As Jack v Thybulle Bale should be terrific clashes.

The Watchdog says
? : GUTTER STOMPER (3) has turned in some great performances of late and he can really charge to the line. With the inside two runners expected to fire through and hold the lead, he should get a nice run through and enter the bend in the top four. With a clear run in the middle stages, he should be hitting the scoreboard.

The Watchdog says
? : ZACHARY (8) is flying at present, and he should be leading throughout, while KRAKEN PEARLER (8) sizzled in a trial here recently and she is expected to fire fresh.

Multi price: $4.25

? Must Watch Race ?

Mixed Grade 4/5

? Shepparton ? Race 8
? 450m ⏱ 9:06pm

The Watchdog says ?: ASTON SUZETTE (2) – triumphant in six of her 12 starts – is a serious prospect, and she can lead from go to whoa. ERTUGRUL BEY (3) – top-three in 20 of his 31 races – is flying at present, and he should follow her through in the initial stages and then fill the quinella spot.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

ASTON SUZETTE (2) has always shown enormous potential, however in recent weeks she has gone to another level by showing her versatility with front-running wins along with come-from-behind victories. She is two of two this track/distance and she owns a sizzling 25.11sec PB and with natural improvement, I think she can push the 25-second barrier in the coming months. ERTUGRUL BEY (3) has been one of the most consistent chasers in the state of late and he should challenge the favourite throughout. He would be better suited to a wider draw, but he has a good turn of foot, and he should get a nice run through. PAINT PEELER (6) showed a return to form here last Monday night and can figure prominently.
