Daily Mail: Will ‘Gypsy’ weave magic at The Meadows?

Premier Racing at The Meadows tonight features four-time G1 champion Gypsy Wyong lining up against dual G1 winner Jarick Bale and Geelong 680m track record holder Collinda Lady in a tremendous 600m Free For All.

G2 Geelong Gold Cup finalist Kysaiah is looking to boost his strike rate in a 525m Free For All, while G1 National Futurity runner-up Chic is racing for the first time since March 5.

Belle Violin v G2 placegetter King Of Calypso v Runaway Miss and Westar Aileen v Pazienza v G3 finalist Here Comes Pie should be strong clashes.

G3 placegetter Paddy’s Marvel, the in-form Soda Prince and G3 finalist Rio Bhodi highlight their respective races at Warragul this evening.

? $3 Multi

First
?:
Win – SODA PRINCE
? Warragul ? Race 6 ? Box 6 ? 400m ⏱ 6:38pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.80 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666543019/race/6

Second
?: Win – RIO BHODI
? Warragul ? Race 8 ? Box 6 ? 460m ⏱ 7:10pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.90 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666543019/race/8

Third
?: Place – WHO TOLD SHORTY
? The Meadows ? Race 12 ? Box 4 ? 525m ⏱ 10:29pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.60 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666543018/race/12

The Watchdog says
? : SODA PRINCE (6) has been brilliant since resuming and he should be leading throughout, while the explosive RIO BHODI (6) should get a nice cart across early, and he will prove too brilliant in the run home. WHO TOLD SHORTY (4) was enormous last time out and with a clean getaway, a top-three finish looks likely.

Multi price: $5.47

? $5 Place – UFORO BALE
? The Meadows ? Race 3 ? Box 1 ? 525m ⏱ 7:18pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.30 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666543018/race/3

The Watchdog says
? : He is drawn to hold the early lead and with the scratching of WROTE THE SCRIPT (8), he is unlikely to cop too much pressure mid-race. He will get a little tired in the run home, but he should have enough in the tank to finish in the top three at nice odds.

? $2 Place – COLLINDA LADY

? Must Watch Race ?

Free For All

? The Meadows ? Race 6
? Box 3 ? 600m ⏱ 8:20pm

TAB fixed odds: $1.90 Place (Top two finish required)

The Watchdog says ?: Geelong 680m track record holder COLLINDA LADY (3) is dropping back to the 600m journey, but she is extremely versatile, and she should be able to find the rail soon after box rise. With a clear passage in the middle stages, she should be able to pick a few of them off late and a top-two finish is on the cards.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

Small line-up, but it is elite, and the pace will be hot from the outset. GYPSY WYONG (4) is one of the most versatile chasers in work having won four-of-seven this track/distance and she is also a four-time Group 1 winner over the staying journey. With the lack of pace drawn out wide tonight, she should be able to cross and lead and although she will have a flat patch mid-race, she might be able to kick back for victory. JARICK BALE (1) is one of the best middle-distance chasers in the game and although he has been a tad disappointing of late, with a clear run early, he should be able to make amends. He owns a breathtaking 34.02sec PB here and with WEBLEC JET (2) expected to move wide at the bend, he should get plenty of cover for most of the journey. COLLINDA LADY (3) rounds out the big guns. She continues to rise to the challenge, and she will be suited by the smaller line-up.
