Industry update

Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) reinforces its unwavering commitment to the rehoming of retired greyhounds.

GRV’s Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP), as well as rehoming groups financially supported by GRV, other rehoming groups and participants (through friends, family and contacts of owners, trainers and other participants in the industry) have rehomed 13,531 Victorian greyhounds over the past five years.

In 2021-22 GRV will fund an estimated $650,000 in supporting other rehoming groups, and desexing and dental costs for greyhounds being rehomed outside of the GAP Program.

GRV funds veterinary and rehabilitation costs for any greyhound which comes into its care injured or is unwell.

GRV urges anyone within the community to contact the Greyhound Racing Integrity Unit (GRIU), or their local jurisdiction’s equivalent, if they have any information pertaining to the mistreatment of greyhounds.

This can be done in Victoria, with anonymity via this link or calling the investigations hotline on 1300 856 109.
