Daily Mail: ‘Patty’ set to thrill at Sandown Park

Premier Racing at Sandown Park this evening features G3 winner and Sandown Park 595-metre track record holder Collinda Patty in the Alf Goldburg OAM Memorial, but G1 finalist Fernando’s Quest and G1 placegetter Orca will both challenge strongly.

Wigram Road, Jefferson County and Studley are lining up in a competitive $12,000 to-the-winner GOTBA Cup, while Subtle Art, Master Avenger, G3 finalist Hadouken and G1 placegetter Carry On Angel are contesting the ANZAC Appeal Cup.

The promising Who Told Shorty v G3 finalist Rapaki Rocks, G3 winner Love The City v G3 placegetter Samona, and G2 winner Weblec Jet v G1 winner Knicks Bale should be top clashes.

The exciting Amron Boy headlines a Mixed 4/5 450m race at Warrnambool tonight.

Second
?: Place – BIG BREW
? Warrnambool ? Race 7 ? Box 1 ? 450m ⏱ 7:16pm

Third
?: Place – SHIMA GLOW

TAB fixed odds: $1.75 Place (Top two finish required)
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666542991/race/10

The Watchdog says
? : NITRO BALE (1) has the inside draw, and he should be on the pace throughout, so a top-three finish looks likely. BIG BREW (1) has been racing in consistent style and with a clean getaway he should hit the scoreboard. SHIMA GLOW (1) has been luckless of late and from the inside draw she can make amends. She normally shows good early burn, and she is hard to get past when in the clear.

Multi price:
$6.31

? $2 Place – ORCA

? Must Watch Race ?

Mixed Grade 4/5

? Sandown Park ? Race 5
? Box 6 ? 715m ⏱ 7:31pm

TAB fixed odds: $2.60 Place (Top two finish required)

The Watchdog says ?: Group 3 winner and Sandown Park 595m track record holder COLLINDA PATTY (3) is obviously going to take a power of beating, but Group 1 runner-up ORCA (6) is as consistent as they come, and he should be able to finish in the top three. He is capable of leading or coming from off the pace in his races and he can run all day.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

Great race and the exciting COLLINDA PATTY (3) is making her true staying debut. She has been slowly working up to this journey with numerous runs over 600m and a couple of hit-outs over 660m. She powered to the line in her brilliant 37.83sec Ballarat win and she followed that up with a desperately unlucky run at Bendigo, so she has given every indication that she will have no trouble running out the journey. The first 50m is going to be crucial as she finds herself in a race stacked with early speed, so if she can get into the clear as they go past the post the first time, she can get into her work and assume control soon after. ORCA (6) was a gutsy 42.35sec winner here last Thursday night, while the classy FERNANDO’S QUEST (1) should keep the pressure on throughout.

The Watchdog’s selections: 3 – 6 – 1 – 8

? $4 Place – MYSTIFY KICK
? Sandown Park ? Race 6 ? Box 4 ? 515m ⏱ 7:55pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.30 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666542991/race/6

The Watchdog says
? : He turned in a strong performance to score last Thursday night and he finds himself in a suitable race again. There are a number of front runners who do get very tired in this event, so if he can avoid early bother and head to the back in the top five, he should be able to run over the top late and figure in the finish.
