Daily Mail: Substantial battle at The Meadows

Blazing Times, Compliance, Photo Man and Substantial should provide a terrific second heat of the G1 Silver Chief at The Meadows tonight.

G1 Melbourne Cup placegetter Kinson Bale stands out in the fourth heat, while G3 Silver Bullet finalist Xavien Bale highlights the sixth heat.

G3 Speed Star 525m finalist Paddy Wants Pats and Soda Titan – winner of his last five races – should be a great duel in the eighth heat.

TAB Silver Chief Heat 2

? The Meadows ? Race 6
? Box 5 ? 525m ⏱ 8:41pm

TAB fixed odds: $2.30 Place

The Watchdog says ?: FABRIOLA XIMENEZ (5) runs into an elite line-up, but this chaser is very gifted when at his best. He recently strung together three scorching wins between here and Ballarat over 545m and he tends to do his best work late in his races. There is plenty of early pace in this event, so if he can avoid early bother and settle mid pack, he should be able to run home into the placings.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

Probably the strongest of the eight Silver Chief heats with numerous winning chances. SUBSTANTIAL (4) has been a great chaser in his career to date, however I think he went to another level when scoring at Geelong two runs back in a blinding 25.44sec. If he can step tonight, he will prove very hard to hold out. BLAZING TIMES (1) has come up with the inside draw and with three wins from seven tries here, he will make a big impact in the closing stages. PHOTO MAN (3) is airborne at present, and he is armed with blistering early speed. The interesting runner is COMPLIANCE (2). He has some blistering provincial wins to his credit and although he won at Sandown Park last time, he was a bit disappointing. He led throughout and only managed to carve out 29.80sec. He is obviously a lot better than that, so we will be looking to see if he can improve tonight.

The Watchdog says
? : He can be a little hit or miss early but he does muster quickly, and he should be able to follow XAVIEN BALE (1) through early on. He is as talented as any other runner in this series and with a clear passage tonight, he can hit the scoreboard.

? $2 Win – HIGH END     ? Lucky Longshot ?
? The Meadows ? Race 12 ? Box 1 ? 525m ⏱ 10:38pm
TAB fixed odds: $8 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666540520/race/12

The Watchdog says
? : He is armed with an elite turn of foot, and he appears to be improving with every run. His sister IDOLIZE recently landed the Group 2 Laurels final and I think he actually has more brilliance, so from the good draw, I’m expecting him to punch through and hold the early lead. He went a smart 29.54sec when scoring at Sandown Park and I think he will continue to get stronger, so a sub 29.90sec run tonight around The Meadows is definitely a possibility.
