Dogs to follow

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of greyhounds to follow from around Victoria. You may even want to add them to your Blackbook account.

COMPTON REDEEMER
Breeding:
Dec ’19 My Redeemer x Headline
Trainer: Kayla Cottrell, Pearcedale
Record: 6 starts 4-1-1

Dale says:
“Has had just the six starts and it is hard not to see a lot of recent Melbourne Cup winner Koblenz about this chaser. Both look similar in appearance (white and black dogs) and, amazingly, they both recorded back-to-back 450m Ballarat wins in their fifth and sixth race starts in identical fashion, leading all the way with both clocking sizzling first sectionals and each breaking the magical 25-second barrier on both occasions. Not suggesting he can reach the lofty heights of Koblenz, but Compton Redeemer is certainly a star in the making.”

Best traits:
Quick beginner; Can sustain high speed
Ideal draw: Box 1
Ideal distance: 450m-500m

“Not suggesting he can reach the lofty heights of Koblenz, but Compton Redeemer is certainly a star in the making.”

WATCH: COMPTON REDEEMER (6) speared out of the boxes and never gave his rivals a chance when boosting his strike rate to four wins from six starts at Ballarat.   Results

TWISTED REALITY
Breeding: Sep ‘17 Spring Gun x Champagne Girl
Trainer: Brendan Pursell, Lara
Record: 80 starts 16-17-12

Dale says:
“Former smart Tassie chaser who has had absolutely no luck in his races since moving to Victoria. Has turned in some eye-catching recent placings over the middle distances in town and, even after 80 starts and being over 4 years of age, he is still racing as well as ever. Amazingly, he has never raced beyond 600m and, going over his replays, I have no doubt another win is around the corner, particularly if he steps up in distance.”

Best traits:
Versatility; Boasts a powerful finish
Ideal draw:
Box 1
Ideal distance:
650m

“I have no doubt another win is around the corner, particularly if Twisted Reality steps up in distance.”

WATCH: After being shuffled back to the tail of the field, TWISTED REALITY (4) sprouted wings late to finish runner-up at The Meadows.   Results

MS. MIGHTY MOUSE
Breeding:
Oct ’19 Sh Avatar x Broadway Miss
Trainer: Roger Bloomfield, Benalla
Record: 2 starts 0-2-0

Dale says:
“Has had just the two starts and was placed in smart fashion in both of those runs behind two promising youngsters in Whispers Blare and He’s No Slouch. She showed top shelf early speed in both of those runs and looks set to break her maiden status in a much easier race tonight at Shepparton. Still learning and, with natural improvement, I am expecting her to establish herself as a more than handy provincial sprinter.

Best traits:
Fast early; Plenty of upside
Ideal draw:
Inside draw
Ideal distance:
450m

“Still learning and, with natural improvement, I am expecting Ms. Mighty Mouse to establish herself as a more than handy provincial sprinter.”
