Dogs to follow

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of greyhounds to follow from around Victoria. You may even want to add them to your Blackbook account.

PALACE LADY
Breeding: Jul ’18 My Bro Fabio x Lady Tron
Trainer: Hayden Taylor, Darley
Record: 42 starts 8-5-5
Comment: Has always shown ability but her form tapered off towards the end of her last preparation. However, after a four-month layoff, she has returned to racing with some brilliant performances. She can either lead or come from behind in her races and seems primed this time around to recapture the form that has seen her taste city success.

WATCH: PALACE LADY (4) cruises to an easy win at Shepparton by 10 lengths in 25.32sec (Best).

PADDY WANTS PATS
Breeding: Aug ’19 Black Magic Opal x Striker Light
Trainer: Kelly Bravo, Lovely Banks
Record: 13 starts 4-1-2
Comment: Royally bred greyhound that posted a flying win at The Meadows in 29.91sec in just his fifth race start. Poor box draws and a steep rise in class since have not served him well, but he put it all together last week with a dazzling 29.83sec all-the-way Meadows win. Still learning but has the capacity to record quick first sectionals and strong run home times, he has the makings of fast becoming an elite city-class sprinter.

“Paddy Wants Pats has the makings of an elite city-class sprinter.”

WATCH: PADDY WANTS PATS (6) was never headed in this brilliant win at The Meadows in 29.83sec.

COLLINDA PATTY
Breeding: May ’19 Zambora Brockie x She’s A Collinda
Trainer: Jason Thompson, Pearcedale
Record: 12 starts 4-1-2
Comment: Made huge headlines when she broke Dyna Double One’s 595m track record at Sandown Park recently with a jaw-dropping 33.56 sec win. On that occasion she had box 1, found the early lead and the race was dictated on her terms. In the past her lack of track sense has been her achilles heel, as she has found bother in her races when unable to lead. If she draws awkwardly over 600m on a bend start she’ll again be susceptible to finding trouble again. However, she has the speed to lead over the 700m distance staying journey and if she can adapt to a rise in distance, she has the potential to be a megastar and staying phenomenon.

“If Collinda Patty can adapt to a rise in distance, she has the potential to be a megastar and staying phenomenon.”

WATCH: COLLINDA PATTY (1) eclipses Dyna Double One’s 595m track record at Sandown by a length clocking 33.56sec.

RUFIANO
Breeding: Mar ’19 My Bro Fabio x Jasocate
Trainer:  Andrea Daily, Anakie
Record: 13 starts 4-4-2
Comment: Powerful sprinter who just keeps getting better with more racing. His last performance was eye-catching when he made up loads of ground to finish a gallant second behind star sprinter Fernando Mick in super-fast time at Cranbourne (29.93sec). Has had just the 13 starts but races with a maturity beyond his experience. Suited to an inside draw he could be looking for more distance and is certainly one to keep an eye out for.

WATCH: Rufiano (2) storms home for an eye-catching 2nd behind Fernando Mick (8) at Cranbourne, with the winner clocking a slick 29.94sec.
