Daily Mail: Can ‘Macgyver’ catch Dr. Slats at Sale?

Dr. Slats (7 from 12 – 5 from 8 Trk/Dst) is an exciting prospect and he is aiming to win his third-straight race and fifth in his last six starts in tonight’s 440m Free For All at Sale.

The Horizon finalists Omega Dodge (8 of last 10) and Massimo, plus Ha Ha Macgyver (3 from 5 Box 8 – 24.65sec PB), are considered the biggest dangers to Dr. Slats.

Maxwell (3 from 6 Box 1) v Langfield Bale v Spring Poldark v Balbina Bale and Spring Cobra v Fantastic Raven (3 from 4 Box 2) v Chatterbox Tilly v Aston Bel Air should both produce terrific battles.

Red Light Rico v Riverbank Smokey (3 of last 5) v Sunnyside Pride v Pink Diamond (500m) finalist Rufiano (2 of last 3) will be a highly-competitive 520m Restricted Win final.

Healesville should be ‘paua’ packed with G3 runner-up and former Warragul 400m track record holder Paua Of Oscar (17 from 35) and Paua Of Janie (8 from 12 – 2 from 2 Box 5) both expected to triumph.

Hello George (12 from 23 Trk/Dst – 4 from 5 Box 1) v Coolant (15 from 31 – 3 from 4 Box 2) v G3 finalist Smart As Jack is a classy 350m Free For All, while Slingshot Reaper (5 from 9 Trk/Dst) v Jordanville Jet (8 from 12 Trk/Dst) v Duncan (9 from 15 Trk/Dst) contest the 300m Free For All.

My Prom Queen (2 from 2 Trk/Dst), Manila Dusk and G3 finalist Zigzag Cabang (4 of last 6) are all strong winning chances in their respective races according to The Watchdog.

Later on at Sandown Park, Emani Bale (2 from 3 Box 2) v Do Good Davlin v Party Lights v Aston Matrice v Zarate (2 of last 4) clash in the Mixed 4/5 595m race.

Yahoo Serious v Nimble Blaze v Ripplebrook Rory v Tynslee Bale v Gracie Bale v Aston Sunset is an open Mixed 4/5 515m event.

OMEGA DODGE ? DR. SLATS ? HA HA MACGYVER

? Sale ? Race 5 ? 440m 6:54pm

The Watchdog says
?: Great race ahead and exciting youngster DR. SLATS (4) is expected to take a power of beating. He has won five of eight (62 percent) over this track/distance and if he were to reproduce his breathtaking 24.59sec PB run, they won’t get near him. He is still learning what it is all about and he will continue to get stronger, however with the empty draw on his outside, he will get plenty of room to balance up and he should be in control as they head through the first bend. OMEGA DODGE (2) has won a staggering 16 races here and he looks to be the likely danger. He has won three straight races in impressive style and he can put up similar times to the ‘Dr’, however he is likely to get back early on and he may not be able to reel in the tearaway leader. HA HA MACGYVER (8) has been quite impressive since resuming from a spell and he is drawn to get all the breaks early. He has a wonderful record from this draw and if he can reproduce his 24.65sec PB run here, he will put himself right into contention as they turn for home. JET LEE ROSE (3) rounds out the serious chances in the event. He returned to form with a dazzling 24.79sec win here and he loves racing around this circuit, but the slight concern is that there is an abundance of early pace on his outside, so he will need a few things to go his way initially. Fingers crossed DR. SLATS (4) can spear the lids and run the hands off the clock, and we might get to see him head to a metropolitan track soon enough.
