Daily Mail: ‘Barooga’ to smoke rivals at Shepparton

G3 winner Barooga Smoke (2 from 3 Trk/Dst – 24.94sec PB) has finished top-two in his last seven starts and The Watchdog believes he will be too strong in tonight’s Mixed 4/5 450m race at Shepparton.

Zipping Martina, Mallee Swan, Rapid Reiko and Studley are considered the main dangers to last Monday night’s narrow G3 Silver Bullet runner-up at The Meadows.

The Mixed 4/5 385m race has plenty of winning hopes including Kraken Candy, All Inn Jasper, Whiskey Road (3 of last 5), Sagacious (4 of last 7) and All Inn Christy.

Return Serve (2 from 3 Box 1) and Mercury Icon (3 of last 4) should provide a great battle in the Grade 5 385m final.

G2 placegetter Amarillo Highway (2 from 3 Box 7) and Aston Tango are both expected to prevail in Grade 5 450m heats, while Reiko Flash should be victorious in the Grade 6 385m event.

At Warrnambool, Aston Orazio looks well placed, while Just Naughty and Miss Rose Water are tipped to secure their first and second career wins respectively.

In the Tier 3 meeting at Cranbourne, Very Odd, Witchie’s Gas and Violet Rose are all predicted to triumph according to The Watchdog.

Altercate (placed in all 3 runs) and Bad Medicine (runner-up in last 3 starts) are both strongly fancied to break their maiden status in the Tier 3 meeting at Ballarat.

ZIPPING MARTINA ? BAROOGA SMOKE ? RAPID REIKO ? STUDLEY

? Shepparton ? Race 8 ? 450m 9:36pm

The Watchdog says
?: Strong race and we see the classy BAROOGA SMOKE (5) go to work and he is expected to take a power of beating. He isn’t the best of beginners, but he does possess a wonderful turn of foot and he has the ability to lead or come from off the pace in his races. Last time out, he produced a stellar performance when runner up in the Group 3 Silver Bullet and with a clear passage tonight, he should be able to press the 25-second barrier. RAPID REIKO (6) has been enormous in her past few runs, and she appears to be the likely danger. She can miss the kick at times, but she has phenomenal pace from the 20m to 100m mark and if given room, she should be able to explode to the lead. She carved out a speedy 25.30sec when scoring here two runs back and I think she can get down to around the 25.15sec mark and that would see her make the favourite work hard throughout. STUDLEY (7) definitely deserves a mention. He has a good record here and he is normally very reliable at box rise, so if the two main fancies happen to make a mistake, he should be there to capitalise.

Selections:
 5 – 6 – 7 – 8

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?
? Monday 8 November

? $4 Multi

First
?: Win – MAJOR BOMBER
? Warrnambool ? Race 1 ? Box 3 ? 450m ⏱ 11:32am
TAB fixed odds: $2.60 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/712852863/race/1

Second
?: Place – YUSSUF BALE
? Warrnambool ? Race 8 ? Box 6 ? 450m ⏱ 1:39pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.60 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/712852863/race/8

The Watchdog says
? : MAJOR BOMBER (3) turned in some handy performances in his first preparation and he is expected to fire fresh today. The red is a handy performer; however, she is still learning and if the ‘Bomber’ can settle on her outside, he should be too strong late. YUSSUF BALE (6) is a powerful type, and he likes to scout wide in his races. If he can get through the first turn without too much bother, he should charge into the money at the business end.

Multi price:
$4.16

? $5 Win – ASTON TANGO
? Shepparton ? Race 6 ? Box 1 ? 450m ⏱ 8:50pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.60 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539165/race/6

The Watchdog says
? : She showed a return to form when placed at Ballarat in good time last Wednesday night and from the good draw, she should go one better tonight. She is armed with terrific pace once balanced and with a slow beginner and wide runner on her outside, she should get all the breaks.

? $1 Win – RAPID REIKO     ? Lucky Longshot ?
? Shepparton ? Race 8 ? Box 6 ? 450m ⏱ 9:36pm     ? Must Watch Race ?
TAB fixed odds: $11 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539165/race/8

The Watchdog says
? : BAROOGA SMOKE (5) is clearly going to take a power of beating; however, he is poorly drawn and if RAPID REIKO (6) can step on terms, she should have enough pace to cross and lead and at that price, she is worth a small investment.
