DM: It’s Speed Star night!

Speed Star is a paradise for any greyhound punter, with head-to-head racing creating enormous interest.

Tonight at Sandown Park from 6.33pm we see Races 5, 6 & 7 transformed into 4 x head-to-head match races over 715m, 595m & 515m.

Punters can bet on the overall fastest time for each distance or multi up a few greyhounds to win their head-to-head matches.

? MUST-WATCH RACE: Bill Collins Speed Star Match 4

ASTON RUPEE ? ASTON FASTNET

? Sandown Park ? Race 7, Match 4 ? 515m 8:22pm

 Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/651655713/race/7

The Watchdog says ? : This is one of the most exciting Speed Star match-ups we have seen since the inception of the series. ASTON RUPEE (7) sent shockwaves through the greyhound racing community when recording a scintillating 28.92sec in a recent trial here and has established himself as the fastest chaser on the planet. Tonight, he faces his toughest test as he takes on his brother ASTON FASTNET (8), who also has some scorching wins to his credit. Obviously, the run to the first turn is going to be crucial and whoever exits the bend in front is most likely to come out on top. They both possess similar early speed, so I am expecting Rupee to go around the 5.05sec mark and that should see him hold the lead and, with a trouble free run, a 28.95sec run should be on the cards. This should be a great Speed Star series and I think the fastest overall winner of the 4 x 515m matches will come out of this head-to-head battle.

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?
? Wednesday 2 June

? $4 Multi

First ?: Win – CLASSY SAMMY
? Bendigo ? Race 5 ? Box 3 ? 425m ⏱ 12:47pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.35 Win

Second?: Win – UTAH EXPRESS
? Sandown Park ? Race 2 ? Box 1 ? 515m ⏱ 5:27pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.70 Win

The Watchdog says ? : CLASSY SAMMY (3) has some blistering wins to his credit, and he looks very well graded today. He is skinny odds, but I expect him to assume control soon after box rise, and it should be a stress free ride. UTAH EXPRESS (1) recorded his blistering 29.22 PB from this draw and, with an even getaway he should be able to punch through and hold the lead. He meets a couple of smart Aston greyhounds tonight, however he has the class edge and looks the goods

? $2 Quaddie – 13.33% (15 combinations)
? Sandown Park ? Races 4 – 7 ⏱ 6:07pm

?: 1,2,3,6,8

? ?: 5,6,7

? ? ?: 8

? ? ? ?: 7

The Watchdog says ? : First leg is quite open, so hopefully we can snag some value. Second leg is the Lizrene Speed Star (715m) with three speed runners in rugs 5, 6 & 7 and I expect them to dominate overall standings. In the third leg, last week’s Sandown Cup winner ZIPPING RAMBO (8) drops back to 595m, but he comes into this as the quickest qualifier and he should have no trouble crossing his rival and should register the best time. ASTON RUPEE (7) is the fastest chaser on the planet and an even getaway should see him also clock the quickest time over 515m.

NOTE: Bet invalid – Quaddie was Races 1 – 4.

The Watchdog says ? : All legs are on the head-to-head markets. TYLER DURDEN (7) is on the up and I expect him to lead his match-up from go to whoa. He is getting out to an extremely attractive price. ZIPPING RAMBO (8) is on fire and with his rival being a slow beginner he should cross and lead easily. KURO KISMET (2) has a dynamic turn of foot, and he should take over at the first bend and never look back. EQUALIZER (3) was made for match racing, and he should work to the front off the back straight. ASTON RUPEE (7) has the advantage of the inside draw and I expect him to hold the lead at the first bend and get the cash
