DM: All eyes on Oscar

Welcome to today’s edition of the Daily Mail, which includes a comprehensive analysis of what looms as a cracking encounter between Gunai Outlaw and Paua Of Oscar at Warragul.

Both Paua Of Oscar and Oriental Amber, the latter racing earlier in the evening at Horsham, will be lining up in races they hold the respective track records over, so we could witness something special today.

Here’s a snapshot of the key highlights we can look forward to, along with ? The Watchdog’s $10 spend

? 11.15am ? Healesville: Impeccably bred Aston Latham (Aston Dee Bee x Sweet It Is) makes his long awaited debut at 31 months of age.

? 5.02pm ? Horsham: Will Oriental Amber lower her sizzling 410m track record at Horsham of 22.641sec?

? 7.25pm ? Warragul: Two exciting prospects Hypo Harry ? Paua Of Buddy face off.

? 8.05pm ? Warragul: It’s a battle of the big guns with Gunai Outlaw (8 from 19) ? Paua Of Oscar (14 from 29), who holds the track record at 22.073sec.

? 8.25pm ? Warragul: GRV Vic Bred Final – Persian Goddess (G1 Sapphire Crown finalist) ? Tinker Craig (16 from 36)

? 9.26pm ? Warragul: The exciting Hennessey ? the unbeaten Gold Skulltula

GUNAI OUTLAW ? PAUA OF OSCAR

? Warragul ? Race 5 ? 400m 8:05pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960170/race/5

The Watchdog says ? : Track record holder PAUA OF OSCAR (3) goes to work again, and he comes into this having turned in two brilliant performances here of late. He is going to be the punters elect, and rightly so, however he is going to need a few things to go his way in the run as he has a fast beginner and keen railer (MOODY GIRL) drawn directly on his outside. If he gets a look at them mid race, he wins, but I am willing to go with the exciting GUNAI OUTLAW (1) to get the job done. He beat a gun line-up at Bendigo last time in a sizzling 23.87sec and he should have more than enough pace to hold the early lead. Although he’s normally a wide runner, the box draw should not pose too many problems for him as he is reliable at box rise and with his brilliant early pace he will be able to push into the clear without too many difficulties. Fingers crossed the ‘red’ can pounce on the lead and ‘Oscar’ can settle a couple of lengths away as then it should be race on.
Selections: 1 – 3 – 8 – 6

The Watchdog says ? : BLUESTONE SOPHIE (4) was super impressive here two runs back and she looks very well graded in this event. ASTON BEL AIR (1) returns to her favourite track and will get plenty of cover in the early stages and should prove too strong. TED DO (8) has the perfect draw but there a couple of handy ones in this, so a top two finish is a safe option. ZYLON BALE (8) has continued to improve with each run and from a favourable draw there should be no excuses.

Multi price: $4.83

?
$2.50 Win – GOTHAM DUCHESS
? Horsham ? Race 12 ? Box 1 ?410m ⏱ 6:58pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.40 Win
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960169/race/12

The Watchdog says ? : She has been exceptional since resuming from a spell and with ASTON RUSTON (2) expected to move wide through the corner she should be able to pinch a big break mid race and prove too classy for her rivals.

? $2.50 Win – GUNAI OUTLAW
? Warragul ? Race 5 ? Box 1 ?400m ⏱ 8:05pm          ***Must Watch Race***
TAB fixed odds: $2.60 Win
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960170/race/5

The Watchdog says ? : GUNAI OUTLAW (1) is taking on the explosive PAUA OF OSCAR (3), but from the inside draw he should be able to pounce on the early lead and that will allow him to establish a nice break in the middle stages. ‘Oscar’ is a jet, but he is going to have to run sub 22.40sec coming from off the speed, so the value is with the ‘red’ runner.

? $2.50 Win – PACK OF JOKERS
? Warragul ? Race 7 ? Box 8 ?460m ⏱ 8:45pm
TAB fixed odds: $3.30 Win
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960170/race/7

The Watchdog says ? : He has only had three runs since resuming from a spell, but he has raced well on each occasion and he looks well placed in this event. From a wide draw he should get plenty of room to balance up and I expect him to assume control through the corner and, with strong 500m form, he should prove too good for his rivals.
