Seasoned punters will be reminiscing this afternoon when The Meadows races in a throwback to the old Olympic Park Mondays.

And this evening a host of quality greyhounds – both old and new – will be heading to Shepparton for a talent-packed night of racing.

HANDSOME RHINO ? SMOKIN’ GRILLE

The Watchdog says ? : HANDSOME RHINO (5) comes into this off a three month spell after he showed enormous potential in his first preparation. He took a few runs to learn what it was all about, however at the end of his preparation he was able to record a breathtaking 29.75sec Meadows win and announce himself as a star in the making. Although awkwardly drawn tonight, he will appreciate the smaller line-up and should be able to use his devastating turn of foot soon after box rise. SMOKIN’ GRILLE (8) is another with star potential and he comes into this having won four of six in sizzling times. He too is expected to fire fresh. He is armed with good early speed, however he appears to be a little more versatile than the top elect and, if he can settle in second spot, it should make for a thrilling affair. ZING ON (1) and AUDACIOUS QUEEN (7) are both very capable types and if the two main fancies happen to bump up front, they could turn for home in a stalking position and run over the top late.

The Watchdog says ? : LUCY’S VILLA (5) is an impressive type and will be suited by the smaller line-up and 600m journey today. HIGH ACTION (1) has panels on his rivals and is drawn to lead throughout. DEFENSIBLE (1) was enormous at The Meadows last week and a top two finish looks likely from the inside draw. LUNAR STAR (8) has been racing with minimal luck in stronger company and she should be able to regain some much needed confidence today.
