Watchdog’s suggested Speed Star spend

Form expert The Watchdog has rated brilliant young sprinter Aston Rupee as “the fastest greyhound on the planet” ahead of Wednesday night’s hugely- anticipated G3 Speed Star series at Sandown Park.

With the Speed Star’s match race format ideal for ‘Multi’ betting, The Watchdog has provided punting strategies for all three events – sprint, middle distance and stayers.

Like all greyhound racing aficionados, The Watchdog is whetting his lips in anticipation about the clash between airborne littermates Aston Rupee and Aston Fastnet in the final Bill Collins 515m ‘match’.

The Watchdog’s overall suggested Multi
Tyler Durden $1.50
Fractured $1.35
Zipping Rambo $1.30
Kuro Kismet $1.20
Equalizer $1.18

Multi = $3.73

“Since he (Aston Rupee) had that month layoff he’s gone 25.33sec and 25.48se at Warragul and followed that up with the 28.92sec trial at Sandown, which is just electric. I think that stamps him as the fastest greyhound on the planet now.”

“Aston Fastnet’s Sandown win last Thursday in 29.18sec was spectacular. I think the only problem is he went 5.10sec with a fairly good beginning and Aston Rupee can run 5.10sec, maybe even a tad quicker, so he’s going to hold ‘Fastnet’ out and it’s going to be pretty hard to run down a dog that’s going 29 ‘flat’ on the arm.”

In the Lizrene Speed Star over 715m, the Watchdog agrees that TAB’s $2.60 favourite Hank The Hustler is the likely overall winner but says exciting staying newcomer Tyler Durden bears close watching at $1.50 in his ‘match’ and $4.40 in ‘All In’ betting.

“Tyler Durden has just been a revelation since stepping up to ‘700’. Third in the Sandown Cup, in his heat win he lowered Zack Monelli’s colours and he did it in dominant style as well. He’s on fire at the moment. Third-up now he’ll be pretty strong. I think he leads, I think he wins.”

The Watchdog describes the $1.30 on offer about last start G1 Sandown Cup winner and sensational 33.66sec qualifier Zipping Rambo in the final Racecallers Speed Star (595m) match race as “a gift” and expects him to claim overall honours at an enticing even-money quote.

However the Watchdog has identified the $5.50 available about Zipping Annabel in the second middle distance ‘match’ against Bounce Back as “huge overs”.

“I know Bounce Back broke 34 seconds at Sandown two runs back but when you’re looking at a market where Bounce Back is $1.15 and Zipping Annabel is $5.50, I’d be willing to take the chance on Zipping Annabel. Don’t put her in your multis, just back her straight.”

The Watchdog’s suggested Multi (515m)
Kuro Kismet $1.20
Equalizer $1.18
Aston Rupee $1.36

Multi = $1.92

The Watchdog’s suggested Multi (595m)
Fractured $1.35
Nangar Rust $1.65
Zipping Rambo $1.30

Multi = $2.90

The Watchdog’s suggested Multi (725m)
Kenny The Brute $1.50
Hank The Hustler $1.50
Tyler Durden $1.50

Multi = $3.37
