It’s RSN Sandown Cup night!

It’s one of the biggest nights of the year at Sandown Park, headlined of course by the $250,000 RSN Sandown Cup Final.

However, some big names outside the cup will also be going around this evening including:

6.39pm: The electrifying Aston Fastnet (29.11 PB) looks set to explode in Race 3 at Sandown.
7.43pm: Do It takes on G1 Sapphire Crown winner Qwara Bale in the $21,000 Gr8 Eight.
8.07pm: Track record holder Here’s Tears does battle with Hank The Huster in the TAB Cup Night Distance event.
8.27pm: The $250,000 G1 RSN Sandown Cup Final.
8.53pm: Potential superstar Shima Classic is up against Geelong Gold Cup winner Weblec Jet at Sandown.

Check out The Watchdog’s detailed analysis of the RSN Sandown Cup, along with his $10 daily spend below.

MUST-WATCH RACE: Group 1 RSN Sandown Cup Final

ZACK MONELLI ? ZIPPING RAMBO ? STANLEY ROAD

? Sandown Park ? Race 8 ? 715m 8:27pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565711088/race/8

The Watchdog says ? : It is the greatest staying event in the world, and we have a thrilling line-up. ZACK MONELLI (1) won the box draw and I expect him to start inside of odds on and it really is his race to lose. You could argue he was a tad disappointing last week, but I just think he was little flat from the week before and I am willing to forgive that run. He is expected to go sub 6 seconds to the first marker and that will see him hold the early lead and his rivals will have to go sub 41.50sec to reel him in. If there is to be a minor upset, it is likely to come from ZIPPING RAMBO (4), who has been beaten in his two 715m runs but he was gallant in defeat both times and with the lack of early speed in this event, he should be sitting on ‘Zack’s’ tail for most of the journey. WE THE PEOPLE (2), MAGGIE MOO MOO (5) and STANLEY ROAD (6) are the run-on types and, with some luck, they could figure prominently, however ‘Stanley’ is likely to get a little further back than normal, and he appears to be under the odds. If you are looking for a rank outsider, SIR TRUCULENT (3) may be the one. He is probably a couple of lengths off his best, but he will get a nice run through on the rail and could give punters a buzz at big odds.

The Watchdog says ? : In Race 1 we have gone with a mix of early speed and a couple of run-on types. ASTON FASTNET (2) was electric at Cranbourne and although he’s short odds, he does appear to be a moral in Race 3. I expect ASTON GLOW (1) and FENWAY LIGHTS (4) to go together for most of the trip in Race 4, however if they are suspect late, SLICK INTENTION (2) can run over the top of them. The inside division should hold the lead in Race 10 and dominate, however if JARICK BALE (6) gets a look at them, he could pick them off late.

?: 3,4

? ?: 3,4

? ? ?: 1,2,3,5,6

? ? ? ?: 1,4

The Watchdog says ? : RADEK BALE (3) and FERNANDO FRANK (4) should dominate the first leg, as I just don’t think ONE NIGHT ONLY (7) will get across to the rail. DO IT (3) and QWARA BALE (4) are airborne at present and they should fight out the finish in the second leg. The third leg is one of the hardest races on the night, so fingers crossed we can land some value. ZACK MONELLI (1) really should land the Cup, but if he is off his game, ZIPPING RAMBO (4) could capitalise, so we included him for a bit of value.

? $2 Trifecta – 1 / 2,3,4,5 / 2,3,4,5,6 (10%)
? Sandown Park ? Race 8 ? 715m ⏱ 8:27pm    ***Must Watch Race***
Form ?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565711088/race/8

The Watchdog says ? : Should be a great race but if ZACK MONELLI (1) is on, he should be winning another Group 1 event. We have thrown a couple of run-on types in for second in the hope of STANLEY ROAD (6) missing the top two to some value to the dividend.
