Daily Mail: ‘Patty’ set to thrill at Sandown Park

Premier Racing at Sandown Park tonight features five heats of the G1 RSN Sandown Cup and one of the top duels is Collinda Patty against fellow G3 winner Zipping Kansas in the fifth heat.

The first heat is extremely open with G1 winners Knicks Bale and Jarick Bale facing the in-form Golden Quest and Saturday night’s G3 Wentworth Park Gold Cup winner Hank The Hustler.

G1 winner Mepunga Ruby stands out in the second heat, while four-time G1 champion Gypsy Wyong headlines the third heat.

Seven-time Group placegetter Super Estrella and Geelong 680m track record holder Collinda Lady clash in the fourth heat.

G2 Warrnambool Cup placegetter Mepunga Mustang is also in action, while four-time G2 champion Ferdinand Boy is racing at Geelong.

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?
? Thursday 12 May

? $2 Place – DARNUM DIVA     ? Lucky Longshot ?
? Sandown Park ? Race 5 ? Box 2 ? 715m ⏱ 7:28pm
TAB fixed odds: $11 Place (Top two finish required)
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/766423792/race/5

The Watchdog says
? : I didn’t have DARNUM DIVA (2) in my top four as there are better winning chances, however she is extremely talented and with MEPUNGA RUBY (1) expected to set a cracking tempo and draw away from the field, the ‘Diva’ might be able to land in second spot and give chase. She can carve out time when chasing and at the price, she represents value for a top-two finish.

? $5 Win – ZIPPING KANSAS

? Must Watch Race ?

Fifth heat of the Group 1 RSN Sandown Cup

? Sandown Park ? Race 8
? Box 6 ? 715m ⏱ 8:31pm

TAB fixed odds: $2.15 Win

The Watchdog says ?: ZIPPING KANSAS (6) is the fastest stayer on the planet, and he carved out a ridiculous 41.27sec when scoring here in March. If he can step on terms tonight, he should have no trouble crossing to the lead and they will have a hard time reeling him in.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

ZIPPING KANSAS (6) is the star Sydneysider and he prepared himself for this assignment with a breathtaking 41.27sec win here in March. His box manners have let him down a couple of times in recent weeks, so with a better getaway tonight, we could see the fastest stayer on the planet give the track record (41.157sec) a nudge. COLLINDA PATTY (7) continues to rise to the occasion, and she carved out a scorching 41.41sec when making her staying debut here last time out. She would have preferred an inside draw, however if her main rival can step cleanly, she should get a nice cart across, and she will have the drop on him for most of the journey. I don’t think there will be much between them at the end, however ‘Kansas’ is a potential staying megastar and I think he will have the edge in the closing stages.

The Watchdog’s selections: 6 – 7 – 3 – 1

? $3 Win – PATRIOT EARHART
? Sandown Park ? Race 11 ? Box 5 ? 515m ⏱ 9:33pm
TAB fixed odds: $4.40 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/766423792/race/11

The Watchdog says
? : PATRIOT EARHART (5) has scored some scintillating wins of late, and she is armed with a dynamic turn of foot once balanced. There is plenty of early speed with SECURITY MAN (4), so if she can step on terms, she will get a nice cart across and then assume control off the back straight. With the ability to carve out around 29.30sec, she should have her rival’s measure.
