Daily Mail: Amber ready to go at Healesville

After winning at her Healesville debut seven days ago, Oriental Amber (23 from 47 – 5 from 8 Box 2) returns to the straight track today as her preparation for next month’s G2 Healesville Cup continues.

The G2 Ballarat Cup finalist and Horsham 410m track record holder got the better of Invictus Ethan in a Grade 5 heat last Sunday and that greyhound has the chance to atone in this afternoon’s final after drawing Box 1. Fastest heat winner Green Blazer is aiming to back up last Sunday’s five-length victory.

The scratching of G1 Silver Chief placegetter Papi Go Fast is a boost for G3 Launching Pad finalist Hadouken, who will be fitter after having his first run for over four months last Sunday.

Last year’s G2 Ballarat Cup finalist Daniel Avocado (18 from 49 – 3 from 7 Box 2) was triumphant last Sunday in his first race since Boxing Day and will be challenged by noted speedster Slingshot Titan (29 from 56), who has won four of his last six races.

Listed Mount Gambier Cup winner Zipping Zarbo (27 from 59) v Rear View Mirror (6 from 8 Trk/Dst) v Kipling (21 from 55) v Duncan (19.14sec PB) promises to be a fascinating contest, while Anita Sonic Love is eyeing a fifth straight victory.

At Sandown Park, G1 Rookie Rebel winner Fernando Cazz (3 from 3 Trk/Dst) – victorious on her return from almost four months off at Cranbourne on August 4 – is in action along with Cranbourne Winter Cup finalist Usman Bale (6 from 19).

Later on at Sale, classy duo Zipping Sense (3 from 6 Trk/Dst) and Security Man (6 from 14 – 4 of last 5) will aim to enhance their respective records.

? MUST-WATCH RACE: Straight Racing….Great Racing Grade 5 Final

INVICTUS ETHAN
? ORIENTAL AMBER ? GREEN BLAZER

? Healesville ? Race 6 ? 350m 12:49pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538466/race/6

The Watchdog says
?: Awesome line-up and we get to see all-star provincial speedster and track record holder ORIENTAL AMBER (2) strut her stuff. She has won a staggering 23 of 47 (49%) overall and she was brilliant when winning her heat in a slick 19.24sec last week. It was her first look at the track last week, so naturally she should be able to improve on that time and that will see her figure in the finish, however I think INVICTUS ETHAN (1) is capable of causing a minor upset. ‘Ethan’ went through the first marker in a handy 6.60sec last week but he had to work hard to cross in the initial stages, so he should be able to shave a length off that time and that would likely see him hold the favourite out initially. With the ability to go sub 19 seconds, he may prove too strong in the run home. GREEN BLAZER (4) returned to racing in dynamic fashion with a slashing 19.20 win here last week. He showed enormous potential in his first preparation when scoring sizzling wins in town and a scorching 25.57sec Geelong win. It’s clear he has come back in great condition and if he can stay sound, he could be in for a big preparation. ASTON MARLON (6) rounds out the serious chances. He hasn’t fared well with the box draw, but he does explode soon after leaving the mat and, if given room, he could make a big play in the middle stages. It should be a thrilling affair and I think the eventual winner can rattle the 19 seconds barrier.

The Watchdog says
? : SPEEDY GARRY (7) was ultra-impressive here last week, and he meets a similar line-up today, so with a clean getaway he should be able to figure in the finish. INVICTUS ETHAN (1) has explosive pace once balanced and he will scrape the paint. With an ounce of luck early, he should make his presence felt. PIRATE TAILS (1) has been looking for this journey and from the good draw she should be in the top two from the outset.

The Watchdog says
? : BELL BURNER (8) showed tremendous promise in his first prep and he should be primed for a bold showing fresh. COLLINDA PATTY (1) has been looking for this journey and I think she can hold the classy FERNANDO CAZZ (5) at the first bend and that will be the difference maker. TARGET MASTER (1) is showing promise and from the inside draw a top three finish looks likely.

The Watchdog says
? : SHANTELLE ROSE (8) is normally very reliable at box rise and she will get a nice cart across from the favourite in the initial stages. SECURITY MAN (8) shattered the clock at Warragul during the week and he is expected to make light work of this line-up. BIGSY (1) is racing with tremendous confidence and with an ounce of luck, a top three finish is on the cards.
