Who gets the family bragging rights – Weblec Raider (Jeff Britton) v Mepunga Grace (Angela Langton)?
Langton will be hoping it’s the ‘will of Grace’ when the talented duo lines up in a Restricted Win (3-6 Wins) final over 485m at Horsham this afternoon.
Weblec Raider (3 from 7) won his first three starts but had had no luck of late, while Mepunga Grace (4 from 12) has won three of her past six.
Expert form analyst The Watchdog says She Can Excite (5 from 16 – 3 of past 4) and Mystify Kick (3 from 13 – 2 of past 3) also have claims.
Two country stars – Masked Avenger (11 from 25) and Man Absconded (23 from 65) – also highlight the Horsham fixture.
Masked Avenger (3 from 4 Box 1), who was a Listed Western Districts Derby finalist, contests a Grade 5 over 410m, while Man Absconded (6 from 11 Box 2) lines up in a Free For All over 410m.
Meanwhile, at Warragul tonight, Security Man (5 from 13 – 5 of past 8) v King Of Glory (6 from 14) is a key clash in a Restricted Win (3-6 Wins) final over 460m. Security Man is 2 from 2 Box 4.
And Propelled (2 from 4) is a youngster who has launched his career in style!

The Watchdog says ?: Great race and it features quite a few serious up-and-comers. WEBLEC RAIDER (6) captured the rich Pink Diamond Maiden final at Bendigo back in June and has been luckless since. Although beaten in his heat, his run was still impressive, and he would have derived a lot of benefit from that run. He missed the kick and had to work hard throughout, so with a better beginning, he should settle in the top three and take a power of beating. Kennelmate MEPUNGA GRACE (7) is another who didn’t have a lot of luck in her heat, and she too is expected to make amends. Two runs back, she powered to the line when scoring at Warrnambool in a slick 25.34sec and she appears to be getting better with every run. SHE CAN EXCITE (8) is the interesting runner; she can be a little hit or miss early but she has electric pace soon after box rise, and she should get a nice cart across in the initial stages. After a string of luckless performances, she showed fans her true ability when notching up a hat-trick of wins at Warrnambool in recent weeks. MYSTIFY KICK (3) rounds out the ‘big guns’. He’s still learning what it’s all about but announced himself as a potential star when carving out a blistering 27.10sec win here two runs back. If given a clear run, he’ll prove very hard to hold out. However, there’s a concern he may get crowded in the initial stages. I can’t wait to see this race unfold, and these chasers are all worth following going forward.
