Daily Mail: Beauty is a Beast!

“Ever just as sure as the sun will rise”, Collinda Beast (10 from 20 – 5 of past 7) looks a ‘beauty’ at Shepparton tonight.

Trained by Jason Thompson, Collinda Beast is proving a middle-distance revelation with best-of-night wins at his past two starts – Sale (650m) and Sandown Park (595m).

The all-conquering Thompson scored a treble at Warragul on Saturday night, including the G3 Warragul St Leger with Aston Fastnet.

Meanwhile, the ‘Beauty is a Beast’ support cast at Shepparton includes Got The Torque 13 from 45 – 5 of past 7), Paua Of Mindy (2 from 8) and My Faith (18 from 61 – 4 of past 4).

A G2 Warrnambool Cup finalist, Got The Torque has plenty of ‘grunt’ and his claims are enhanced by the scratching of Fernando Bluey – G1 Australian Cup runner-up and G1 Harrison-Dawson finalist.

Ex-NSW flier Paua Of Mindy has displayed her ‘paua’ with two wins and three seconds from five starts since moving south.

And My Faith has gained the trust of punters as she continues her ‘leap of faith’!

COLLINDA BEAST ? The Clock

? Shepparton ? Race 6 ? 650m 8:54pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538448/race/6

The Watchdog says ?: COLLINDA BEAST (6) has been enormous in his two runs over the middle distance range and will continue to get stronger with more racing. He ran out a strong 650m at Sale two runs back. But the Shepparton 650m is a tougher run, so it’s going to be a test.  But I think he’s up to it. Last time out at Sandown Park, he wasn’t great to begin but showed plenty of determination when driving through soon after box rise and dictated terms from thereon. The scratchings have made things a little easier, so he should find the top soon after box rise and a sub-37sec run could be on the cards. NINE TO SEVEN (2) was never headed at Warrnambool last time over this journey and should make the favourite work hard for most of the trip, while BESSIE’S DAISY (7) and the promising HUSHING DUSK (9) must be included in your exotic bets. Both are highly talented but lack the mid-race brilliance of the top elect.

Selections:  6 – 2 – 7 – 9

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?
Monday 9 August

? $3 Win – KEYBOW SALLY
? $2 Win – LIL SNOOZE
? Warrnambool ? Race 6 ? Boxes 2 & 3 ? 450m ⏱ 1:37pm
TAB fixed odds: $5 Win (Keybow Sally)
TAB fixed odds: $7 Win
(Lil Snooze)

The Watchdog says ? : KEYBOW SALLY (2) has always done her best racing here, having won five of nine this track and trip, and with a clean getaway should settle outside the ‘red’ initially and assume control after around 100m. She’s a different chaser when in front and I think she can get the job done. LIL SNOOZE (3) has turned in some eye-catching performances of late and should get a nice run through on the rail mid-race. If ‘Sally’ and the leading division happen to bunch up, he should be there to capitalise and he appears value.

TAB fixed odds: $1.55 Place
Form

The Watchdog says ? : PAUA OF MINDY (4) is an absolute jet and although she meets a handy one in BEN MAYO (2), I think she’s more talented overall and should have enough speed to cross him in the initial stages. THINK BIG HARRY (3) is a powerful type who should find the rail soon after box rise and get into his work in the middle stages. LOVE HEART (2) will appreciate the slight class drop and is armed with a blistering turn of foot. If SMOKIN’ ZAG (1) can hold a prominent spot at the bend, our selection should get a dream run through and a top three finish looks likely.

?: 5,6,8
? ?: 6
? ? ?: 3,6,7
? ? ? ?: 4,5

The Watchdog says ? : BALLARA BULLET (5) and EAGLE BOY (6) should dictate terms for most of the journey in the first leg, but MOHINGA CHASE (8) is a powerful type and only needs to be within striking distance as they turn for home. COLLINDA BEAST (6) is expected to lead from go-to-whoa in the second leg, while CAROLINE (6) and SUDOKU COBRA (7) are expected to set a cracking pace in the third leg. However, we also included the fast finishing THINK BIG HARRY (3). GOT THE TORQUE (5) looks the goods in the last leg, but we’ve also included the ultra-consistent TAN STAR (4).
