Daily Mail: Weblec Jet aiming to soar

G2 Geelong Gold Cup winner Weblec Jet (13 from 36 – 5 from 12 Trk/Dst) returned to form at The Meadows last Saturday night and is expected to figure prominently in a Mixed 3/4 515m event at Sandown Park this evening.

The Watchdog’s top selection will face stiff opposition including G2 Warrnambool Cup finalist Got The Torque (2 from 4 Box 1), who has been victorious in his last two starts.

G2 Richmond Oaks finalist How Not Too (2 from 5 Trk/Dst) has won four of her last five races, Riccarton Rick’s seven career victories have all been at Sandown Park over 515m (29.27sec PB) and Isolating (6 from 10) has won five straight.

The promising Gypsy Wyong (9 from 14) is looking to extend her winning streak to four races, but seven-time Group finalist Run Like Jess (4 from 8 Trk/Dst) has regained form.

G2 McKenna Memorial finalist Bounce Back (33.99sec PB) and 2019 G1 Sale Cup winner Weblec Eagle (2 from last 4) will also provide a stern test.

Group finalists Whatever I Say v Persian Goddess v Bobby The Brute clash, while Aston Amigo (4 from 10) is eyeing four straight wins v The Horizon finalist Whistling Bullet (3 from 7 Box 2).

G1 Silver Chief finalist Earn The Answers (29.26sec PB) was brilliant at Sale last start, while G1 Sapphire Crown finalist Mepunga Katie is having her second run since late May.

At Warragul, G1 Australian Cup finalist Lakeview Cruiser v Masked Avenger (12 from 26) should provide a fantastic race, while G3 Warragul St Leger finalist Black Avenger and Paua Of Janie (6 from 8) also provide interest.

The Watchdog says
?Cracking affair with a number of these chasers in red hot form. Group 2 Geelong Gold Cup champ WEBLEC JET (8) regained some much needed confidence with a gutsy 30.03sec win at The Meadows last week and he has come up with the ideal draw tonight. He likes to stay wide in his races and, with a quick beginner and keen railer drawn directly on his inside, he should get a nice run into the race and plenty of room to balance up. He owns a slick 29.39sec PB here but, if given a clear passage, he can get down to the 29.20sec mark and that will make him very hard to beat. HOW NOT TOO (3) is the most in-form chaser in the event. She has won four of her past five with three of those victories coming in town in scintillating time. Her box manners have improved immensely in recent months and, with the ability to go 5.06sec or faster to the first mark, she is a major player in everything she contests. There is little early speed drawn on either side of her, so if she does everything right at box rise, she is likely to figure in the finish. GOT THE TORQUE (1) has always been a gifted chaser, however he has now turned into the ultimate professional and has shown he is capable of leading or coming from off the pace in recent weeks. From the inside draw he will be hoping to push through at the first bend and if he can head to the back straight in the top three, he will make his presence felt. RICCARTON RICK (4) clearly needs a mention. He is a track specialist and was brilliant when running second last week, however he will need a few things to go his way early to be a factor. ENVY TO BURN (5) could be the value runner. He is a Group 1 finalist, and he can come out running at times. If he spears the lids, he has the speed to cross and may cause a boilover.

The Watchdog says ?STEAMER REDEEMER (1) should lead up the first leg, but he does get tired, so we have gone wide in this event. DON’T TELL BLUEY (8) is a serious prospect and he is obviously a chance tonight, however at even money or shorter, he is way under the odds. So, we have gone very wide in the second leg in the hope of securing some value. IT’S MY PARTY (7) and BESSIE’S DAISY (8) should control the third leg for most of the journey, whilst RUN LIKE JESS (1) and GYPSY WYONG (4) should have a great battle throughout in the final leg.

The Watchdog says
? : ZING ON (3) and PALACE LADY (4) are both racing with great confidence and the winner should come from one of those two. BLACK AVENGER (1) is an absolute jet, and he will be carving out time. PAUA OF JANIE (2) is a star prospect, and she appears to have a fair bit on her rivals.

The Watchdog says
?BELLE ALI (3) returned to racing in style here last time, however she is under the odds, and we have gone with four on-speed runners. Quite keen on OSPREY PHANTOM (5) in Race 11, however he will need some luck early, so we have thrown a couple of extra runners in there. MEPUNGA KATIE (8) is a gun chaser, but she may be posted wide at the bend, so we have taken her on. BOOMBOX HAMMER (1) was impressive in his Victorian debut here and he is drawn to be prominent throughout, however ASK FOR MORE (3), MADAM MAXIMUS (6) and NIFTY NANGAR (8) are all capable types, so we have included them as well.
