Daily Mail: No ‘Flash’ in the pan

Feature racing continues at Healesville with three finals on the card highlighted by the $7K Healesville Puppy Championship in which Blackpool Flash (22 from 41) is the one to beat.

Earlier at Healesville, watch for track specialist Hello George (8 of past 10), who is arguably the state’s hottest greyhound up the straight right now.

Jason Thompson heads west to Horsham with talented prospects Zambora Lou (Healesville Cup) and Mustang Charlie (3 from 7), the latter set for an exciting battle with Destruction (10 from 22).

Exciting prospects Disorientated (9 from 19) and Massimo (11 from 23) are set for an interesting clash at Sale, with Australian Cup placegetter Lakeview Cruiser to also make an appearance later on the card.

? MUST-WATCH RACE: Healesville Puppy Championship Final

ASTON BEL AIR ? BLACKPOOL FLASH ? KRAKEN SKYE

? Healesville ? Race 9 ? 300m 1:54pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960256/race/9

The Watchdog says ?: Fantastic line-up with just over 5k on offer to the winner and star provincial speedster BLACKPOOL FLASH (5) appears to have a significant edge. He has won four of his past five here and he is one of the most dependable chasers in work. The box draw has not done him any favours, but he has slow beginners drawn on either side of him so, with an even getaway he should have no trouble burning them off and finding the lead. He recorded a dynamic 16.51sec heat win last week and with the potential to go a tad faster, they will have a tough time trying to reel him in. ASTON BEL AIR (3) has returned to form with three brilliant wins here in a row and with some luck in running, she can definitely test the favourite. The slight concern for her is that there is an abundance of early speed drawn in one and two, so she will need a few things to go her way in the initial stages. KRAKEN SKYE (8) is the most inexperienced chaser in the event, but she is on the way up and she was a dynamic 16.65sec heat winner. Her three career wins have come from inside draws, so the wide draw is a slight concern, however with LOUIS THE LEGEND (7) expected to show early speed she should get plenty of room to balance up and eventually get a nice run into the race. GIANT’S FLASH (6) is the value runner. He can find some bother in his races, but he has a serious motor and the with an ounce of luck in running, he will be there to pounce late. With so much depth in this event and it will be keenly contested throughout.

Selections:  5 – 6 – 8 – 3

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?
? Sunday 20 June

? $3.50 Place – KID MALAWI
? Healesville ? Race 5 ? Box 6 ? 350m ⏱ 12:26pm
TAB fixed odds: $2 Place
Form ?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960256/race/5

The Watchdog says ? : I have only tipped KID MALAWI (6) for fourth as I believe there are better winning chances, however he is never far away in this sort of company and he is great value for the place today. He has been placed in 14 of 17 this track/distance and he likes to race middle-to-wide, so with an ounce of luck early he should be able to balance up soon after box rise. With the leaders expected to bunch, he will be there to pounce late.

? $3.50 Place – RICCARTON WEAVER
? Healesville ? Race 6 ? Box 1 ? 350m ⏱ 12:45pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.50 Place
Form ?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960256/race/6

The Watchdog says ? : He has turned in some handy performances of late and from the inside draw he is expected to run a big race at odds. He has some fast wins over 311m at Cranbourne and over 300m at Healesville, and he is expected to be in the top three for most of the journey today. He runs into a few handy ones here, but they are all drawn in the middle, and I expect them to bump a little in the initial stages and that should allow the red to get the fly mid race.

? $3 Place – GIANT’S FLASH
? Healesville ? Race 9 ? Box 6 ? 300m ⏱ 1:54pm     ***Must Watch Race***
TAB fixed odds: $2.80 Place
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960256/race/9

The Watchdog says ? : He can find a lot of bother in his races, but he has a huge motor and with BLACKPOOL FLASH (5) expected to spear the lids and make a beeline for the inside, he should get plenty of room to balance up and get a dream run across in the initial stages. He caught the eye when he powered to the line in his heat last week and, with that being his first look over this track/distance, he will be much better for the run and appears to be value.
