Daily Mail: Speeding bullets

Ballarat Cup finalist Bulleteer (17 wins) returns to Shepparton today looking to go one better after flashing into 2nd place behind the classy Man Absconded a week ago.     WATCH

This time he faces another tough opponent in Sonny Daze, winner of the G3 Northern Districts Cup at this track in November.

Another greyhound to watch out for at Shepparton is Aston Flame (4 from 6), who is a litter sister to potential champions Aston Fastnet & Aston Rupee.

And then there’s Paddy Wants Pats (3 from 5), a 22-month-old son of dual G1 winning female Striker Light who posted a Best of Night 29.91sec victory at The Meadows last Thursday night.     WATCH

SONNY DAZE ? BULLETEER

? Shepparton ? Race 6 ? 385m 8:42pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/625462454/race/6

The Watchdog says ?: This is the fast class event on the night, and we should see a thrilling battle throughout between two speed demons in SONNY DAZE (3) and BULLETEER (4). ‘Sonny’ comes into this fresh after having a month off, so he should be fully wound up and I am expecting him to begin well and assume control as they approach the first bend. At his best he can go sub-21.60sec, and that type of run would see him get the cash. BULLETEER (4) is a Ballarat Cup Finalist and when given room to move early he can really test the clock. His box manners can be a little unreliable, but he does explode once he leaves the mat, and he should be able to follow his main rival across in the initial stages. MAGIC DUO (1) is an interesting runner. She comes into this with strong Wagga and Bathurst form, and she can show slick early speed in her races. This assignment is a little harder than what she would normally face, but her times in NSW indicate she could be highly competitive in a race like this.

Selections:  3 – 4 – 1

?: 5,6,7

? ?: 2

? ? ?: 3,5,6,8

The Watchdog says ? : The middle to wider division are expected to dominate the first leg. ZIEMS PARK MISS (2) has been racing well in stronger company and she is expected to lead throughout in the second leg. In the third leg we have gone wide because if SAINT DESTRUCTOR (8) is beaten it will add some value to the dividend. TIGER BLURTON (2) comes into calculations with an empty draw on the inside in the last leg, whilst JAYLA STRIKE (3) and CRACKERJACK NEV (6) have the class edge and must be included.

TAB fixed odds: $1.60 Place

The Watchdog says ? : CROWDZA BACK (7) has turned in some handy performances to date and he will not get a better chance to win. CHILL OUT WEBBY (1) is far better than his form indicates, and he will scrape the paint throughout. He should settle mid pack, but he will charge late and a top three finish looks likely. CRAZY OLD FOOL (1) loves to rail, and he has a good record over this track and trip, so from a favourable draw he should be prominent throughout and he will be very strong in the run home.

Multi price: $5.04

? $2.50 Win – BUFFET BARON
? Ballarat ? Race 4 ? Box 2 ? 545m ⏱ 3:37pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.40 Win
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960226/race/4

The Watchdog says ? : He is yet to win but he has turned in some solid performances since moving to Victoria and he should appreciate the slight rise in distance today. I expect CRACKERJACK DIRT (1) to pounce on the lead, but he is a little suspect in the closing stages, so if the ‘Baron’ can settle a couple of lengths off him mid-race he will be right there to make an impact as they turn for home.

? $2 Win – SONNY DAZE
? Shepparton ? Race 6 ? Box 3 ? 385m ⏱ 8:42pm             ***Must Watch Race***
TAB fixed odds: $3.70 Win
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/625462454/race/6

The Watchdog says ? : His recent form does not read that well, but he has been racing at the top level and he has not experienced a lot of luck in running. He comes into this after a month off the scene – so he’ll be nice and fresh – and I am expecting him to begin well tonight. If that happens he will have no trouble crossing the two inside runners initially and he is extremely hard to get past when in the clear. There are a couple of handy ones in this event, but he is just as talented as any other runner and he has terrific early burn, making him a major player tonight.
