The Watchdog says ?: With the rich Pink Diamond Series really starting to hit its stride, today is one of the best days of racing you will ever see in Victoria with star performers strutting their stuff across numerous races and tracks. This race, however features the country’s premier sprinter in SHIMA SHINE (6), and he returns to one of his favourite tracks. He has won five of six this track/distance and he held the 450m track record at one point. He has been a little inconsistent of late due to his poor box manners, however he showed he is still at his peak with a breathtaking 29.00sec Sandown Park win. There is a bit of speed drawn on his outside, but GYPSY YANKEE (7) should clear him early and that will allow the champ to balance up and really get into his work. With an ounce of luck, he can get the job done. The ‘Yankee’ has returned to his brilliant best in recent weeks, and he should make his highly decorated kennelmate work overtime for victory. He recorded a sizzling 6.49sec to the first marker before stopping the clock in a slick 25.08sec when winning here two weeks back and a similar performance tonight can see him hit the scoreboard. FABRIOLA ZAD (5) rounds out the big three in this event and although he relies on a lot of luck in running, if his two more fancied kennel mates happen to make a mistake early, he should be there to capitalise in the middle stages. ROBIN’S CHOICE (3) and INSTRUCTION (4) are both racing well and are highly talented types, however they have been thrown in the deep end tonight.
Be sure to strap yourself in for a huge day of racing with so many big clashes in the Pink Diamond Series at Ballarat and Warragul.
