DM: Battle at The ‘Bool

Welcome to today’s edition of the Daily Mail.

This is the final day of GRV’s month-long ‘pink rug’ campaign, which sees every Victorian-bred greyhound that wins a race in the pink number eight rug in this state earn an extra $250 to be shared between their breeder and trainer.

It’s all part of the promotion of the Pink Diamond series, where we’ll see some incredible heats at Warragul and Ballarat on Thursday, followed by Shepparton and Geelong on Friday, culminating in the running of 12 bumper Pink Diamond Finals at Bendigo on Friday 18 June.

In the meantime, here’s what we can look forward to today including ? The Watchdog’s $10 spend

? MUST-WATCH RACE: GRV Vic Bred Series Final

MAASAI MARA ? HANDSOME JACK ? ACCUSED

? Warrnambool? Race 6 ? 450m 8:39pm

 Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/625474492/race/6

The Watchdog says ? : Quality line-up for a Grade 5 Final and the two heat winners from last week are expected to figure prominently. HANDSOME JACK (4) appears to have the slight edge. Last week he missed the kick but was still able to muster enough pace to find the lead and record the fastest first sectional, so with a better getaway, he should have no trouble crossing and leading. His overall time was impressive at 25.30sec WATCH, however I think he will be better for the run last week and could get down to the 25.15sec mark. MAASAI MARA (2) is the clear and obvious danger. He was a dominant 25.28sec heat winner last week WATCH and a similar performance would see him feature again. He is not always reliable at box rise, so he will need a few things to go his way in the initial stages. INGA MIA (1) could be the value runner, she is a little one paced, although she does scrape the paint and is racing with confidence at present. ACCUSED (6) is the other headline act in the event. She was brilliant when resuming here last week and will be better for the run. The draw is a slight concern, but with a clear passage mid race, she could be in a threatening position as they turn for home.

Selections:  4 – 2 – 1 – 6

Third ?: Place – BYRON BALE
? The Meadows ? Race 10 ? Box 1 ? 525m ⏱ 5:02pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.70 Place (top two finish required)
Form
? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960191/race/10

Fourth ?: Place – WEBLEC STORM
? The Meadows ? Race 12 ? Box 2 ? 600m ⏱ 5:49pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.30 Place (top two finish required)
Form
? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960191/race/12

The Watchdog says ? : OZARK BALE (8) is ideally drawn out wide and with an ounce of luck early it’s hard to see if missing the top three. DAPH’S ZAC (2) loves The Meadows, and he will get a dream run through behind the red early on. BYRON BALE (1) has been racing well in stronger company of late and he is drawn to hold the lead at the first bend. WEBLEC STORM (2) is simply better than these and a top two finish looks likely.

Multi price: $5.66

? $2.50 Quaddie – 6.25% (40 combinations)
? The Meadows ? Races 5 – 8 ⏱ 3:27pm
Form
?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960191/race/5

?: 2,3,4,6,7

? ?: 2,6,7,8

? ? ?: 2

? ? ? ?: 3,8

The Watchdog says ? : The first two legs look quite open, so fingers crossed we can get some value in those legs. DAPH’S ZAC (2) looks an anchor in the third leg, he is drawn to get the breaks and will prove hard to hold out. TINKER RAY (3) is a serious up and comer and WEBLEC WHIRL (8) has the class edge, so one of those two should exit the first bend in a prominent spot and get the cash.

? $2 Place – INGA MIA
? Warrnambool ? Race 6 ? Box 1 ? 450m ⏱ 8:39pm               ***Must Watch Race***
TAB fixed odds: $3.40 Place
Form ?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/625474492/race/6

The Watchdog says ? : She runs into a few good ones, but she is as honest as they come, and she is capable of leading or coming from off the pace in her races. There is an abundance of early speed with MAASAI MARA (2) and HANDSOME JACK (4), however I think there will be some bunching at the first bend and ‘Mia’ may get a nice run through at the bend and a top three finish at nice odds could be on the cards.

? $3 Win – ABALONE FOZZ
? Warrnambool ? Race 11 ? Box 1 ? 390m ⏱ 10:19pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.50 Win
Form ?  https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/625474492/race/11

The Watchdog says ? : She is a Warrnambool specialist, and she was brilliant when placed here last week. JUST IN TIME (2) is the obvious danger, however he will try and move to the middle of the track soon after box rise and that should give the ‘Fozz’ plenty of cover in the run to the first turn and allow her to boot away and establish a race-winning break.
