Daily Mail: ‘Zigzag’ to go ‘cabang’ at Geelong

G3 finalist Zigzag Cabang has a strong record of 14 wins from 32 starts and he headlines a Grade 5 400m event at Geelong this afternoon.

Despite the scratching of dual G3 finalist Black Avenger, Master Avenger and Whiskey Road is a top clash in a Mixed 4/5 450m race at Shepparton.

Release The Rage v Jaleesa Bale v Luca’s Jebrynah and Busted Billy v Master Ogilvie v Masked Avenger v Soul Taker should be even contests.

The Watchdog says
? : He relies on luck in his races; however, he loves racing at Geelong and with the abundance of early pace engaged, he should be able to sit just off them for most of the journey and he can them pick them off in the closing stages.

The Watchdog says
? : ZIGZAG CABANG (7) has electric pace once he hits the ground, and he should have no trouble crossing and leading throughout. OSPREY STORM (1) has been impressive to date and although he meets some royally bred debutants, they will have to be pretty good to beat him. WHERE’S THE BEES (2) has a fair bit on these class wise and he is reliable early, so there should be no excuses for him today.

Multi price: $4.37

? $2.50 Win – WHISKEY ROAD

? Must Watch Race ?

Mixed Grade 4/5

? Shepparton ? Race 8
? Box 8 ? 450m ⏱ 4:59pm

TAB fixed odds: $2.60 Win

The Watchdog says ?: Eight-time winner WHISKEY ROAD (8) has dynamic early speed and if he can cross at the bend, he will give them something to catch. There is a bit of speed drawn inside and in the middle, but he is near faultless at box rise and he was top-rated even before the scratching of dual Group 3 finalist BLACK AVENGER (3).

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

BLACK AVENGER (3) has been scratched, but we are still left with a strong line-up and his kennelmate MASTER AVENGER (2) has been left to save the day for Joe Borg. MASTER AVENGER was a top 29.57sec Sandown Park winner two runs back and with a clean getaway today, he should be able to make a big impact. WHISKEY ROAD (8) is an exciting prospect, and he has a great record from this draw. He is normally very reliable at box rise, so I’m expecting him to have enough pace to cross early and he will give them something to catch. Kennelmates WHITE FLOWER (5) and VOLTAGE SPIKE (6) are both highly talented speedsters, so if the two ‘big guns’ happen to make a mistake early, either one of them could capitalise. ALL INN JASPER (4) and BEATRIX BALE (7) are both racing well.
