Daily Mail: ‘Wow’ factor at Sandown Park

Premier Racing at Sandown Park tonight is highlighted by the semi-finals of the G3 Launching Pad with TAB Phoenix champion Wow She’s Fast facing Here Comes Pie, G3 winner Love The City and Mobile Legend in the first semi-final.

Despite suffering his first defeat last Thursday night, Amron Boy is favoured to bounce back in the second semi-final against impressive youngsters Levitation and Photo Man.

Fearless Rory v Let’s Win Coin v Kung Pow Kevin v Magical Mavis should be a competitive third semi-final, while Samona v Amlin Emperor v G3 winner Plaintiff v She’s Refined is expected to be a great fourth semi-final.

G1 finalists Earn The Answers and Orlando, Golden Easter Egg semi-finalist Decimate and Master Avenger clash at Bendigo this afternoon.

First semi-final of the Group 3 Launching Pad

? Sandown Park ? Race 5
? Box 1 ? 515m ⏱ 7:34pm

TAB fixed odds: $7.50 Win

The Watchdog says ?: HERE COMES PIE (1) is better than his past two runs suggest, and he has won here previously in a scorching 29.25sec. I’m expecting him to begin a lot better tonight from the inside draw and he should be able to hold the lead through the bend. WOW SHE’S FAST (5) may have to work hard early, so we might be able to zip away mid race and steal the event.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

TAB Phoenix champion WOW SHE’S FAST (5) has been simply phenomenal in her two runs since resuming from a spell and if she times the start tonight, she should be winning again. She absolutely destroyed her rivals here last Thursday night and she is one of the fastest chasers in the land. However, she has drawn poorly again tonight and she can’t afford to hesitate at box rise. HERE COMES PIE (1) owns a scorching 29.25sec PB here and he is a genuine beast when in the clear. He should be able to hold the top through the bend and the favourite will have to go another level to reel him in. MOBILE LEGEND (3) will be giving his more fancied rivals a head start, but he has proven that he can carve out time when coming from off the pace. WYNBURN RUBY (8) is a classy Tasmanian speedster, and she will be better for the run here last Thursday night, while the speedy HOMETOWN HERO (6) could cause a boilover if he comes out running.

The Watchdog’s selections: 1 – 3 – 5 – 8

? $6 Place – HUMMOCK
? Sandown Park ? Race 6 ? Box 1 ? 515m ⏱ 7:58pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.50 Place

The Watchdog says
? : He faces a huge task tonight; however, he has continued to improve with each run, and he really caught the eye when placed in his heat last Thursday night. He missed the kick and worked to the line nicely and from the inside draw tonight, I’m expecting him to show a lot more early zip and if he can head to the back in the top three, I can’t see him missing a place.

? $2 Win – USMAN BALE     ? Lucky Longshot ?
? Sandown Park ? Race 9 ? Box 4 ? 515m ⏱ 9:01pm
TAB fixed odds: $9 Win
Form ?

The Watchdog says
? : He ran into superstar AMRON BOY two runs back and produced the performance of his career when running second in breathtaking time. With PAZIENZA (3) expected to carve across and find the rail, he should get a nice cart across early and be in the top two as they head to the back straight. He is a lot stronger these days, so if he can settle in a prominent spot, he will give us a great sight at odds.
