Daily Mail: ‘Tesla’ set to electrify Sandown Park

G1 Silver Chief winner Zippy Tesla – unplaced in a heat of the G1 Paws of Thunder last Saturday night – races at Sandown Park for the first time tonight in a Mixed 4/5 515m race.

Dual G3 winner Barooga Smoke faces G2 Laurels placegetter Loxton Bale, the versatile Invictus Rising and G3 Speed Star 525m runner Paddy Wants Pats in a 515m Free For All.

Two-time G1 finalist Drako Bale v Suntory Rose v Venus Light and Call Me Buster v Listed runner-up Thunder Tears v G1 Hume Cup runner-up Mepunga Warrior should be great tussles, while dual G1 finalist Weblec Blazer, Barista Chick and Big Opal Rocks highlight their respective races.

G2 Queensland Futurity placegetter Impulse Buy and Geelong Oaks winner Osprey Rose clash in the $7,500 to-the-winner Warrnambool Oaks final.

TAB fixed odds: $3.30 Win

The Watchdog says
? : LADY ZEEVA (4) has recorded two brilliant placings here of late and she has proven to be a very reliable beginner. I am expecting her to begin well again and if she can cross at the first bend, they will have a hard time reeling her in.

? $2.50 Win – DUNDEE EMBER
? Sandown Park ? Race 4 ? Box 2 ? 715m ⏱ 7:58pm
TAB fixed odds: $6.50 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539989/race/4

The Watchdog says
? : She recently recorded a top 41.77sec win here and she looks perfectly placed in tonight’s event. The race features three front runners who are all suspect late, so if she can sit just off the pace, she should be able to run over the top in the closing stages.

? $1.50 Trifecta – 2 / 1,4 / 1,3,4,5 (25%)

? Must Watch Race ?

Mixed Grade 4/5

? Sandown Park ? Race 5
? 515m ⏱ 8:19pm

The Watchdog says ?: ZIPPY TESLA (2) has gone to another level in recent weeks, and he should be winning. ASTON LAVINIA (1) is expected to lead, while the powerful FABRIOLA XIMENEZ (4) should get a nice run through early, so they have been included for second. LUCY’S VILLA (3) and BUSY TIME (5) round out the serious chances.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

ZIPPY TESLA (2) didn’t have a lot of luck when he ventured to New South Wales for the heats of the Group 1 Paws of Thunder, however prior to that, he did capture the Group 1 Silver Chief final and he looks perfectly placed tonight. ASTON LAVINIA (1) is expected to pounce on the lead and LUCY’S VILLA (3) can move wide through the bend, so that should allow ZIPPY TESLA to drive through into a prominent spot as they head to the back, and he is very strong late. Surprisingly, it is his first go around Sandown Park, but if he can bring his form shown at The Meadows, a sub 29.20sec run could be on the cards.

The Watchdog’s selections:
2 – 1 – 4 – 3

? $3 Win – PAINKILLER
? Sandown Park ? Race 9 ? Box 5 ? 515m ⏱ 9:43pm
TAB fixed odds: $5.50 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539989/race/9

The Watchdog says
? : He has turned in some brilliant performances of late and with BARISTA CHICK (4) expected to carve across and lead, he should get a nice run into the first turn. He does his best work in the middle stages and in the run home, so if he can head to the back in the top three, he will prove hard to hold out.
