Daily Mail: Raven to stay fantastic at Sandown Park

Fantastic Raven (6 of last 10) has been a revelation in Victoria and The Watchdog has selected her to notch three straight wins in today’s Mixed 4/5 515m race at Sandown Park.

G1 Perth Cup finalist Rapido Lass (10 from 23 – 2 from 3 Box 1), last start winner Big Wings and G3 placegetter Fractured (29.25sec PB) are considered the main threats to Fantastic Raven.

The Mixed 4/5 595m race is highlighted by Nikephoros (2 from 4 Box 1), G3 finalist Just Wins Boss and Busy Time (3 of last 5), while Society Icon (7 from 14) is eyeing her sixth-straight win.

Youngsters Aston Wise, Contour and Postman Pickett are all expected to prevail in their respective races.

The promising Collinda Beast (11 from 27) is the standout greyhound at Sale, but he faces strong opposition in Harper’s Girl, Nicholas Rose (2 of last 3) and Omega Tyson (7 from 18 – 29.38sec PB) in a Mixed 4/5 520m race.

Suspense Rules v Aston Nino (24.76sec PB) v The Horizon finalist Whistling Bullet v Well Built should be a terrific battle, while Golden Skyrocket (3 from 8 Trk/Dst), Aston Matrice and Enabler (3 from 8 Trk/Dst) are all highly thought of by The Watchdog.

Flying Foxy v G3 runner-up Mepunga Warrior v Tomato Tears and G1 finalist Mepunga Felix (5 from 10 Box 1) v G3 placegetter Overflow Lisa (4 of last 8) v Graclyn Bale should provide great contests in the two Bendigo Spring Cup (660m) heats.

G3 finalist Chop Scotch (16 of 39) looks well suited in the Mixed 4/5 425m race.

? MUST-WATCH RACE: Shootout – November 11 Mixed 4/5

RAPIDO LASS ? BIG WINGS ? FRACTURED ? FANTASTIC RAVEN

? Sandown Park ? Race 8 ? 515m 4:19pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539061/race/8

The Watchdog says
?: Great line-up for a Sunday afternoon and we get to see the electrifying FANTASTIC RAVEN (6) go to work. Since arriving from interstate, she has continued to elevate her game and she capped off a terrific stretch of form with a sizzling 29.85sec win at The Meadows. She has gone 5.02sec and 5.03sec to the first marker in her two Meadows wins of late and if she brings that form to Sandown Park today, she should have no trouble crossing early and with the ability to carve out around 29.30sec, I do not think they can reel her in. RAPIDO LASS (1) comes here with impressive WA credentials, and she has joined the in-form Cottrell kennel. She is normally a front running type at 600m and beyond, however she comes into this after having a month off and she is expected to sprint well fresh. BIG WINGS (3) has always done his best racing here and he returned to form with a solid 29.76sec win here last Sunday. He had been missing the kick there for a while, however he did spear the lids last time and to have any chance of holding out the ‘Raven’ at the bend, he will need to time the start to perfection again. FRACTURED (4) rounds out the serious chances. He has been sparingly raced throughout his career, but he has always shown a tremendous amount of talent and he is expected to race well after a month off. He will get back early and need a few things to go his way. However, if the two front runners happen to bump at the bend, he may get a nice run through and be there to strike in the middle stages.

Selections:  6 – 1 – 2 – 4

? THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT ?
? Sunday 10 October

? $3 Multi

First
?:
Win – POSTMAN PICKETT
? Sandown Park ? Race 6 ? Box 2 ? 515m ⏱ 3:32pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.90 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539061/race/6

Second
?: Place – ERTUGRUL BEY
? Bendigo ? Race 10 ? Box 1 ? 425m ⏱ 8:40pm
TAB fixed odds: $2 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539058/race/10

The Watchdog says
? : POSTMAN PICKETT (2) was a brilliant winner here last Sunday and he meets a similar line-up today and with a clean getaway, he should be leading throughout again. ERTUGRUL BEY (1) can be a little hard to follow but they should set a hot pace in this event, and he will get a nice run through at the bend. If he can avoid trouble, a top three finish should be on the cards.

Multi price:
$3.80

? $5 Win – NIKEPHOROS
? Sandown Park ? Race 7 ? Box 1 ? 595m ⏱ 3:57pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.15 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539061/race/7

The Watchdog says
? : He has been leading up some quality line-ups over longer journeys of late and he should appreciate the drop back to 595m today. He went 9.28sec to the first marker when recording his PB here and he is capable of going a tad faster and that would see him hold the top through the first bend. He can run a really strong 595m and with his early speed, the rails draw is a huge advantage today and that should be the difference maker.

? $1 Exacta – 6 / 1,2,3,4 (25%)
? Sandown Park ? Race 8 ? 515m ⏱ 4:19pm     ? Must Watch Race ?
Form
? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539061/race/8

The Watchdog says
? : FANTASTIC RAVEN (6) should have sufficient pace to cross and lead and I do not think they will be able to reel her in. RAPIDO LASS (1) is the obvious choice for second, however there are some talented types at nice odds drawn in boxes two, three and four, so we have included them at value.

? $1 Win – KRAKEN SUE     ? Lucky Longshot ?
? Bendigo ? Race 6 ? Box 3 ? 425m ⏱ 7:24pm
TAB fixed odds: $9 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539058/race/6

The Watchdog says
? : She comes into this nice and fresh and when at her best, she can really test the clock. She has a quick beginner in FREYA BALE (4) drawn on her outside, however she will stay wide, so ‘Sue’ should get plenty of cover early and if she can get into the clear, she will take a power of beating.
