Greyhound racing to continue in Victoria albeit without crowds

Crowds will not be allowed on course at tonight’s Sandown Cup race meeting, following the Victorian Government’s advice today around COVID-19.

In line with the Chief Health Officer’s advice, essential persons only will be allowed on course at ALL Victorian greyhound race meetings until further notice.

Greyhound Clubs Victoria advises:

Throughout the duration of the current lockdown (effective from 11:59pm Thursday, 27 May 2021 to 11:59pm Thursday, 3 June 2021), Victoria’s greyhound race clubs will revert back to previous protocols in October 2020.

  • Pre-entry temperature testing will be back on site, 28 May 2021 – ALL tracks
  • Essential persons only;
  • Takeaway food and beverages only;
  • Face masks mandatory at all times;
  • Social distancing of 1.5 metres;
  • QR code sign-in mandatory;

GRV encourages participants to closely monitor the latest Government advice, including getting vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as is practical, noting that Victorians aged 40+ are eligible to receive the vaccination from Friday 28 May.
