Dogs to follow

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of greyhounds to follow from around Victoria. You may even want to add them to your Blackbook account.

MASTER THE ART
Breeding: Oct ’20 Hasten Slowly x Art Noveau
Trainer: Angela Langton, Anakie
Record: 11 starts 1-4-2

Dale says: Master The Art has had 11 starts for only one win but I’m predicting his winning strike rate to improve dramatically once his career is complete. He has shown rapid improvement in his past few runs and his bloodlines suggest he is going to develop into a strong city sprinter over 500m and beyond.

Best traits: Can lead or come off the speed; quite versatile
Ideal draw: Box 1
Ideal distance: 550m

WATCH: MASTER THE ART (4) never shirked the task and was flashing late in a winning time of 34.62 seconds at The Meadows (600m) on August 6.     Results

ROLLIN’ JACKPOT
Breeding: Aug ‘20 Aston Dee Bee x Rollin’ With It
Trainer: Cameron Bahen, Yuroke
Record: 7 starts 2-2-0

Dale says: Rollin’ Jackpot took six starts to break his maiden status but he has won his past two races in impressive fashion and I’m expecting his spiral of improvement to continue. With handy early speed combined with strong middle and run home sectionals, Rollin’ Jackpot has the recipe to develop into a well accomplished provincial sprinter.

Best traits:
Keen chaser, strong middle sectionals
Ideal draw: Box 1
Ideal distance: 450-500m

WATCH: ROLLIN’ JACKPOT (3) displayed a terrific burst of late speed to prevail in 25.58 seconds at Shepparton (450m) on August 1.     Results

DESPERATE MOMENT
Breeding: Oct ’20 Zambora Brockie x My American Girl
Trainer: Andrew Paraskevas, Pearcedale
Record: 2 starts 0-0-0

Dale says: Don’t be discouraged with Desperate Moment being unplaced at her only two starts. She knuckled over at the start on debut and made up tremendous ground, while at her next start, she was in a threatening position before finding bother. It is clear this dog has an enormous amount of ability and plenty of scope for improvement. Desperate Moment will win her maiden sooner rather than later and she should work her way through the grades and win her fair share of races.

Best traits: Hits top speed soon after box rise, keen railer
Ideal draw: Box 1
Ideal distance: 450-500m

WATCH: DESPERATE MOMENT (2) still managed to finish fourth after completely missing the start in a winning time of 25.51 seconds at Shepparton (450m) on July 25.     Results
