Dogs to follow

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of greyhounds to follow from around Victoria. You may even want to add them to your Blackbook account.

LADY DIOR
Breeding: Dec ’20 Bernardo x Moonlit Wings
Trainer: Angela Langton, Anakie
Record: 3 starts 0-0-2

Dale says: Lady Dior has had no luck in all three of her runs but after watching her replays, it’s clear that this dog has enormous talent. Still learning and, at just 19 months of age, the scope for improvement is huge. Lady Dior should be breaking her maiden status sooner rather than later and she can quickly work her way through the grades and become a well-performed sprinter.

Best traits: Strong type; tenacious chaser
Ideal draw: Box 1
Ideal distance: 500m

“Lady Dior should be breaking her maiden status sooner rather than later.”

WATCH: LADY DIOR (5) was unable to find an elusive run after a slow beginning when third in a winning time of 30.08 seconds at Sandown Park (515m) on July 3.     Results

MY MATE LUCAS
Breeding: Jan ‘19 Aussie Infrared x Aeroplane Jet
Trainer: Brett Mackie, Tooradin
Record: 28 starts 3-9-4

Dale says: My Mate Lucas has been racing well over the 460m distance range in his most recent races. He appears to have lost his early zip, but his run-home times have been brilliant and he would appreciate a step up in distance. A 550m race off an inside draw in a similar class of race that he has been contesting would likely see My Mate Lucas return to winning form.

Best traits:
Powerful run-home sectionals
Ideal draw: Box 1
Ideal distance: 550m

“A 550m race off an inside draw … would likely see My Mate Lucas return to winning form.”

WATCH: MY MATE LUCAS (5) looks like he needs a race over at least 500 metres after a hard-charging fourth in a winning time of 26.07 seconds at Warragul (460m) on July 5.     Results

YAHIRO BALE
Breeding: July ’20 Feral Franky x Dyna Zesty
Trainer: Daniel Gibbons, Avalon
Record: 12 starts 7-3-1

Dale says: Yahiro Bale burst on the scene with some sizzling provincial wins and she added a hat-trick of victories not long after around the two city tracks. She has been slowly working through the grades and is still learning the racing caper. She clearly has plenty of talent and with more racing, I’m expecting her to perform at the elite level. It wouldn’t surprise me if Yahiro Bale captured a group race at some stage in her career.

Best traits: Elite turn of speed after box rise
Ideal draw: Box 1
Ideal distance: 500m

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Yahiro Bale captured a group race at some stage in her career.”

WATCH: The exciting YAHIRO BALE (4) easily accounted for her rivals in a dashing time of 29.85 seconds at The Meadows (525m) on June 18.     Results
