Hotshots set to hustle

A number of enticing encounters will take place at Shepparton this evening, including the $15,725 GRV VicBred Grade 5 Final (450m) at 8.43pm, featuring talented trio Bareki (won 10 from 16), Koblenz (9 from 14) and Hazey Roy (14 from 38).

The biggest name on the card might just be Dream Wizard, a group class star who’ll be running in the Slips To Boxes Challenge Final (385m) at 7.41pm after winning a heat on the coursing circuit at Benalla. He finds himself up against Made Me Blind, a greyhound who’ll exit the red alley, a draw she has had five times for four wins.

And then there’s the unbeaten Rebellious, who’ll line up in Race 9 after winning his first three starts by a total of 27 lengths.

But The Watchdog believes the biggest highlight on the card could be the battle between potential stars Four Pillars (won 6 from 9) and Louie Lou (5 from 10) in the third heat of a Restricted Win series at 9.56pm.

Check out his in-depth analysis of tonight’s Must Watch race, along with his daily $10 spend below.

MUST-WATCH RACE: Hard Style Rico @ Stud Heat 3 (3-6 Wins)

FOUR PILLARS ? LOUIE LOU

? Shepparton ? Race 10 ? 450m 9:56pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/625458429/race/10

The Watchdog says ? : Great match up ahead with two of the state’s most exciting provincial speedsters set to do battle. FOUR PILLARS (4) has won six of nine to date and they have all been in sizzling times. His box manners are solid, but his biggest asset is his unrivalled pace soon after box rise. There is not a whole lot of pace drawn directly on his inside tonight, so if he steps on terms, he should be able to cross and assume control early. LOUIE LOU (6) showed enormous potential in his first preparation and he returned to his brilliant best with a slashing 25.21sec win here last week when second up from a spell. The rails draw helped on that occasion, but from an awkward draw tonight he may be giving his main rival a bit of a head start. BETT’S BLUES (1) and the improving SADIKI BALE (8) are both more than capable chasers, but fingers crossed the top two elects can spear the lids and have a stirring battle throughout.

The Watchdog says ? : CRUZ OUT (6) showed a lot of improvement last time out and he will not find an easier race to win. CAWBOURNE GOUT (8) will appreciate the small line-up and he should be able to run over the top of them late and sneak into the top two. KING BROWN (4) is expected to miss the kick, but he should drop onto the rail and take advantage as they bunch through the corner.

Multi price: $9.24

? $3 – DUSTY LYN

The Watchdog says ? : She can be a tad hard to follow but she is extremely fast when out in the open and, from the red draw today, she should get every chance. There is not a lot of depth in this event, so if she finds the lead early it is hard to see her being reeled in.

The Watchdog says ? : GOT A TRUMP (3) will appreciate the empty draw and looks to be a good anchor. I expect either BAREKI (1) or KOBLENZ (5) to find the early lead in the second leg and one of those should be winning. The third leg looks to be a little more open, so hopefully we can find some value. SMART AS JACK (1) and KEPAL (4) should match motors throughout the final leg.

? $3 – FOUR PILLARS

The Watchdog says ? : Genuine star in the making and while this is probably his toughest test to date, he should be able to cross the inside division and have a nice break on LOUIE LOU (6) as they turn for home. That should be enough for him to score.
