Tips within a decent card at The Meadows tonight

Some handy operators return to The Meadows tonight in what’s the best card at the track since Sportsbet Australian Cup night.

Gambella up against Amron Toy in Race 6 is one of the highlights, along with Ross The Boss against Valenzuela in Race 7 then a very competitive Free-For-All in Race 8 to round out the quaddie.

And if we needed more on our plate, don’t forget tonight’s Sportsbet Shepparton Cup which is one of the better country fields produced of recent memory – click here to learn more.

BEST BET
The Meadows, Race 6, Gambella (4)
It’s normally a win or bust with her so we’ll know our fate early, but she doesn’t have any excuses here. The pressure at the start won’t be intense which suits her, if she gets clear at that point then she shouldn’t be beaten. Amron Toy (3) is a threat but I didn’t like the way he performed last start.

NEXT BEST
The Meadows, Race 7, Ross The Boss (4)
This step up to 600m racing has been a masterstroke from his trainer Paul Galea. He will lead this race by a long way. His vulnerability may be the last 50m to probably only Valenzuela (7), but if The Boss’ last start at Sandown Park is the new norm, then he shouldn’t be caught.

BEST VALUE
The Meadows, Race 1, Edie Monsoon (4)
She’s only had one start and won at Geelong, most importantly she showed early speed. This race has just none of that in it. Despite her qualities over 525m being unknown, she seems a big chance to lead this and anything is possible after that. We’re getting a decent place quote to find out.

WORTH THE RISK/TAKE ON
The Meadows, Race 4, Keep Rolling (7)
I don’t think he’s racing as well as he was last year. He’s pretty keen to get to the rail, so with the wide draw and speed drawn underneath him he looks to have his work cut out. As the favourite, I’d be more than happy to take him on.

QUADDIE
Race 5: Field
Race 6: 3,4
Race 7: 4,7
Race 8: 1,2,3,4,5
