2023 Victorian Greyhound Awards – Every Recipient

Champion sprinter Wow She’s Fast was announced as the Sportsbet Victorian Greyhound of the Year (GOTY) at the 2023 Victorian Greyhound Awards, held on Friday night at the spectacular Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne.

Trained by Jackie Greenough for owner Greg Sprod, Wow She’s Fast was judged the state’s top performing greyhound during the 2023 Racing Season (1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023) by the Victorian GOTY Panel ahead of a plethora of superstar greyhounds.

The undisputed queen of greyhound racing and world prizemoney record holder, Wow She’s Fast has amassed a mind-boggling $2,389,955 in career earnings from just 32 starts. Her standout performance of the season was her second successive win in The Phoenix at The Meadows in December.

A host of other awards were presented on the night, among them new inductees into Victorian greyhound racing’s Hall of Fame – Kevin and Bonnie McNamara (greyhound educators) and Barcia Bale (breeding greyhound).

Minister for Racing, the Hon. Anthony Carbines, MP presented the illustrious Ken Carr Medal to Bob Douglas, a highly respected and successful trainer, studmaster and administrator in Victorian greyhound racing over many decades.

In congratulating all the recipients, GRV Chair Peita Duncan conveyed to the 350 guests that this year’s awards night was particularly special given it is the 150th anniversary of greyhound racing in Victoria.
