Victorian ‘Metropolitan Strike Rate’ Award – Paul Bartolo

Astute Little River trainer Paul Bartolo is the winner of the 2022-23 Victorian ‘Metropolitan Strike Rate’ Award.

He was presented with the title at the 2023 Victorian Greyhound Awards.

Bartolo’s 67 city starters claimed 19 wins at a 28.36% winning strike rate.

He was a narrow winner over Robert Neocleous, who had 16 wins from 58 starters at 27.59%.

Bartolo’s major contributors during the 2022-23 racing season were Make No Promise (winner Launching Pad Consolation) and Storm Stroller (runner-up G2 Geelong Gold Cup) with seven and six ‘city’ wins respectively.

Never Be Alone – a litter sister of Make No Promise – notched two ‘metro’ wins.

Pawnote: Bartolo won the 2006 Victorian GOTY award with Betty’s Angel.

CRITERIA GUIDELINES

  1. The Victorian Metropolitan Strike Rate Award is presented to the Victorian registered trainer who:
    1. Has the highest percentage of total winners compared to total starters who raced at full metropolitan stake money races, conducted at Victorian metropolitan tracks, during the racing year (July 1 to June 30)
    2. Has finished the racing year with a minimum of 52 starters at full metropolitan stake money races, conducted at Victorian metropolitan tracks, during the racing year (July 1 to June 30).
  2. A trainer is not eligible for consideration for a ‘Trainer’ award if the trainer has, during the racing year of the award: a. been found guilty of a serious offence, or b. had a greyhound return a positive swab to a prohibited substance.
