In case you missed it – Stagger Out Lee, Xylan Bale and Rejuvenate

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of runs from around Victoria that have caught the eye over the past fortnight.

#1 STAGGER OUT LEE (Box 1)
Breeding:
Mar ’20 My Bro Fabio x Parrydise Star
Trainer: Jack Strutt, Springvale
Record: 48 starts 10-12-6

Dale says: Many readers of this column would have already watched this run by Stagger Out Lee in the Group 1 Bold Trease Final, but it is certainly worth another look.

Ironically, this win was in similar vein to how the late Bold Trease would win his races.

A simply outstanding run to find trouble, spot the leaders a big start and flash home in true Bold Trease fashion to take out one of the most prestigious staying events on the calendar.

#2 XYLAN BALE (Box 5)
Breeding:
Sep ’20 Jiminy Reno x Samus Allen
Trainer: Deborah Coleman, Lara
Record: 38 starts 6-5-11

Dale says: Drawn in Box 5, Xylan Bale was not helped by the fact that No Holds Barred (in Box 4) made a right hand turn out of the boxes.

Undeterred, Xylan Bale headed straight for the rail, which proved a blessing as he avoided considerable tangling that occurred between other competitors and went on to record an outstanding last-to-first win.

#3 REJUVENATE (Box 1)
Breeding:
Nov ’20 Hooked On Scotch x Zall Good
Trainer: Ian Brown, Loch
Record: 12 starts 10-2-0

Dale says: Metropolitan debuts don’t get much better than the stunning Silver Chief heat win of Rejuvenate at The Meadows in a mind-blowing 29.47sec.

On a card jam-packed with elite sprinters, to run just half-a-length off Amron Boy (29.45sec) in his first ever 500m run and first start at the track made this a truly special performance.
