Daily Mail: Rebellious to set Sandown Park alight

Despite contesting his first 515m race this afternoon, Rebellious (11 from 14 – 2 from 2 Box 6) is expected to dominate a Grade 5 heat at Sandown Park.

Last month’s winner of The Prospector at Bendigo found trouble in a G3 Warragul St Leger heat two starts back before rebounding with a 25.58sec BON victory at Warragul over 460m on August 7.

Another promising youngster, Don’t Tell Bluey (29.42sec PB), is aiming to extend his Sandown Park winning streak to four races, while Yohan Bale (3 of last 5) returns to Sandown Park after winning by almost two lengths on Thursday night.

At Healesville, dual G2 country cup champion Ferdinand Boy (25 from 45 – 3 from 7 Box 5) continues his preparation for next Sunday’s The Arrow and the G2 Healesville Cup.

The current holder of two Shepparton track records sizzled on the straight track a fortnight ago and is expected to outclass Mr. Bob (3 of last 4), Duncan (12 from 23 – 9 of 14 Trk/Dst) and Rumour Is Fact (15 from 31 – 10 of 19 Trk/Dst).

Before the 300m Free For All, Invictus Ethan – runner-up to the impressive Green Blazer last Sunday – v Osprey Rose (6 from 15 – 4 of last 5) v Anita Sonic Love (6 from 12 – won last 5) should be a fascinating battle.

Hill Top Jonah (11 from 24 – won last 3) v Group finalists Hadouken (19.22sec PB) v Slingshot Titan (30 from 58) promises to be an intriguing affair, while Oriental Amber (23 from 48) will hope to go two better v Green Blazer after their race last Sunday.

Later on at Sale, Security Man (4 of last 6) and Typhoon Sammy (11 from 18) – recently transferred to Jason Thompson – are both expected to bolster their respective records.

The Watchdog says
?: Excitement machine REBELLIOUS (6) is making his much-anticipated metropolitan debut and like most racing fans, I can’t wait to see what he can run. Some of the times he has been recording on the provincial circuit have been simply breathtaking, and his effort to score at Warragul last start in a scorching 25.58sec when coming from off the pace indicates that he should be able to handle the rise in distance. There is plenty of early speed in the race in the form of BIG WINGS (7), but he can race middle to wide and, with the limited early zip among the inside four runners, REBELLIOUS should get every chance to balance up and find the top as they head through the first bend. I’m predicting him to carve out a 5.06sec run to the first marker and to then hit the second marker in around 18.55sec before bringing it home in around 29.10sec. He is going to be unbackable odds today, but INVICTUS JAXSON (1) is no slouch, and he will keep the favourite honest throughout. He has won three of seven this track/distance and if he can reproduce his 29.42sec PB run, he won’t be too far away as they near the line. If the top elect happens to miss the kick, ‘Jaxson’ will be there to capitalise. Hopefully we can see the REBELLIOUS test the clock and I think he has the potential to go sub 29 seconds in the near future.

The Watchdog says
? : BIG ALFIE (9) has gained a run from Box 1 and he is a very powerful type. He should be suited to straight track racing, and I think he can power home into the placings. COL COWBOY (6) has turned in some terrific performances of late and he continues to improve with each run. He meets a couple of handy ones today, but he should get a nice cart across and he could run a drum at nice odds.

TAB fixed odds: $2.20 Place
Form

The Watchdog says
? : TWO FACE (2) will appreciate the smaller line-up and she is armed with terrific early speed. With an even getaway she should settle in the top two and figure in the finish. WALLY HOOK (8) is drawn to get plenty of room to balance up and, with a quick beginner drawn directly on his inside, he should get a nice run into the race and can sneak into the top three.

TAB fixed odds: $1.30 Win
Form
? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538490/race/9

The Watchdog says
?: OVERFLOW LISA (8) is a powerful type and with a couple of runners who are suspect over this journey, she should be able to round them up and dash away mid race. ASTON ALPHA (1) has a fair bit on his rivals and from the inside draw there should be no excuses.

Multi price: $2.40

The Watchdog says
? : Very skinny quaddie today with PERFECT COLOUR (4) and YOHAN BALE (8) expected to dictate terms throughout in the first leg, whilst PEAKY PUB (3) and DON’T TELL BLUEY (8) should have a great battle in the second leg. BLUE TIGER (4) should lead the third leg, but if FRACTURED (7) is close mid race, he may run over the top late. REBELLIOUS (6) should be winning the last leg comfortably.
