Racing Announcement: Geelong to host Catching Pen and Finish On Lure meetings

As of the 22nd September the Geelong GRC will conduct both Finish On Lure (FOL) and Catching Pen races.

Track works have taken place at Geelong to realign the Catching Pen as well as a successful period of trials into the Catching Pen.

Geelong will conduct race meetings into the Catching Pen on the following dates in September;

– Tuesday 22nd September – Tier 3

– Sunday 27th September – Provincial

– Tuesday 29th September – Tier 3

All other meetings in September at Geelong GRC will use the Finish On Lure.

It is important to note that the recently adjusted Geelong Gold Cup (520m) will be run into the Catching Pen.

From 1st October, Geelong GRC will conduct two Finish On Lure meetings per month and Shepparton GRC will conduct one Finish On Lure race meeting per month.

The following race meetings will use the Finish On Lure in October;
– Geelong – Tuesday 6th October

– Shepparton – Saturday 17th October

– Geelong – Friday 30th October

Geelong will also be the final club to make the switch to a double arm lure for all race meetings and will come into effect on October 1. The below image will be the lure used for Finish On Lure meetings. The change has come about following a number of different lure option trials. Meetings into the Catching Pen will use the standard double arm Lure as on all other tracks.

GRV and the clubs involved will continue to monitor the demand for Finish On Lure meetings and modify the racing calendar if necessary.
