With feature racing left, right and centre across the country in the coming days, our local focus in Victoria turns to the heats of the Sportsbet Bendigo Cup.

There are six heats on the card and while the star power isn’t through the roof, the overall quality is pretty sharp. The opener is Race 6 at 8.35pm, with the heat winners plus the two fastest runner-ups progressing to next week’s final.

HEAT 1
An extremely even race which means track position will be absolutely crucial. Emerald Consolation winner Electrojet has opened favourite.

HEAT 2
Recently out of retirement, Matt Loch returns to the scene of his Pink Diamond Veterans victory in June. He meets the high-profile Joey The Jet, who lines up for just his fourth start in more than a year.

HEAT 3
A mouthwatering clash between Emerald winner Impetuously and the explosive Canya Excite Me. They are absolute rockets and look the two most likely to fight this one out.

HEAT 4
The early speed in this race is beyond frantic. Most of these will red-line early and that could make box 1 a major advantage for Here Comes Billy.

HEAT 5
Ash Intention is going to fly out and lead this race, with Aston Rayner right on her hammer. Oh Biscuit can burn early too.

HEAT 6
Yet another race with a wild amount of speed. Cumulate, Carry on Maci and Daddy Cool have the best of it. Cumulate is probably in the box seat given his draw.
