Eight Victorian organisations that care for the physically and intellectually disabled are in the running to share in $8,000 in the TAB Great Chase Grand Final at The Meadows on Wednesday 3 September.
The TAB Great Chase is an annual event run by Greyhound Racing Victoria that is open to community groups from the disability sector.
Groups are randomly paired with greyhounds throughout the duration of the series, who race to win them prize money.
The Grand Final field was finalised yesterday following semi-finals at Warragul and Geelong.
A total of six semis were held– three at each track – with the winners earning $1,000 and securing their place in the Grand Final along with the fastest runner-up at each track.
The group paired with the Grand Final winner will receive $5,000, plus the equivalent of 10 per cent of their greyhound’s prize money for the next 12 months, courtesy of Greyhound Racing Victoria. The groups matched to the second and third placed greyhounds will receive a further $2,000 and $1,000 respectively.
Note: The TAB Great Chase has distributed around $350,000 to the disability sector since it began in 2003.
