The upgrade to the Sale & District Greyhound Racing Club’s track is now complete with the club making a return to racing on 3 September.
The project, inclusive of new lighting irrigation and lure system, has been supported by the Victorian Government through the Victorian Racing Industry Fund (VRIF).
No significant changes were made to the existing shape of the track or its key features.
As a result of the improvements to the curvature and track dimensions, Sale now has new race distances of 435m, 510m & 640m.

The Sale and District Greyhound Racing Club was formed in 1935 and is traditionally Victoria’s fifth most frequently used racetrack. This upgrade has provided improved infrastructure and amenities supporting public safety and animal welfare and enhance the experience of racing for participants and patrons at the club.
Gippsland trainer Charlie Galea has revealed his delight at the reopening of the new Sale track after landing the first winner on opening night.
The Sale & District Greyhound Racing Club will host its first official race meeting this Sunday following a major redevelopment to its racetrack over the past eight months.
The Sale Greyhound Racing Club is on the verge of wrapping up an extensive racetrack renovation project, which has spanned over six months and cost a staggering $4 million.
Greyhound Racing Victoria, in conjunction with the Sale & District Greyhound Racing Club wish to advise that there will be a temporary closure of the Sale track as from early January 2023.
