Xylia Australia’s Best

Xylia Allen was crowned the Australian Greyhound of the Year at 2013/14 AGRA Awards Night, held at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle on Friday night.

Here is a run down of the awards…

Xylia Allen – Australian Greyhound of the Year
*Won the 2013 G1 National Sprint Championship,  2013 G3 Shootout, 2014 G1 Gold Cup, 2014 G2 McKenna Memorial
Darren McDonald – Australian Trainer of the Year
*McDonald trained the winner of the G3 Darwin Cup (Take It All), G1 Perth Cup (Keybow), the G1 Association Cup (Sweet It Is) and the G1 Sandown Cup (Sweet It Is), the G2 Gosford Cup (Awesome Project), G2 WA Derby (Tiggerlong Amigo), G3 Harrison Dawson (Awesome Project).
Sweet It Is  – Run of the Year
*Her win in the Group 1 Association Cup at Wentworth Park was judged the best run of the 3013/14 season
Where’s Pedro – Stud Dog of the Year
*Sired four Group 1 winners during the 2013/14 season –  Rue De Kahn, Destini Fireball, Smart Valentino & Peter Rocket
Tayah Bale – Broodbitch of the Year
*Tayah Bale is the dam of Xylia Allen
Tell You Why – Hall of Fame Inductee – Stud Dog
*Tell You Why was born in Australia in the 1970s, where he raced until being imported to America where he became a champion sire. Click here to read more about Tell You Why
