Organised Crime delivers Nolan’s first Group triumph

Organised Crime has announced himself as one of the sport’s brightest young stars, handing trainers Justin and Michelle Nolan their first Group victory with an outstanding performance in Friday night’s Group 2 Horsham Cup (485m).

Emerging stars filled the quinella in the Horsham Cup as fellow youngster Dustin chased home the winner in just his 11th career start.

Having just his eighth race start, Organised Crime produced the performance of his career, stopping the clock in a best-of-the-night and personal best 26.70 seconds – almost a length quicker than his heat-winning performance a week earlier.

The son of Bernardo and Easy Choice began brilliantly from box five, taking control of the race before proving too strong for his rivals. Among those left in his wake was Australian Cup winner Dramatical, who finished fifth.

Organised Crime won the Horsham Cup from box five in a time of 26.30 seconds.

Nolan never doubted his youngster belonged at Group level despite his limited race experience.

“If I didn’t think he could handle it, I wouldn’t have put him in,” Nolan said before the final.

Organised Crime has quickly developed a reputation as one of Victoria’s most exciting prospects, winning five of his eight starts while showcasing blistering early speed and a level of maturity well beyond his age.

“I am excited to see how far he gets in his career,” Nolan said.

The talented youngster is owned and bred by father-and-son team Darren and Michael Puleio, who celebrated their first Group success as a team with the Nolans.

Dustin also enhanced his growing reputation with a courageous runner-up finish, using his trademark early pace to secure a perfect position throughout before chasing home the winner.

While no immediate plans have been confirmed, Organised Crime shapes as a leading contender for the upcoming Group 1 Maturity Classic at The Meadows. His only previous appearance at the venue resulted in an encouraging third placing.
